@RapSheet
In major college football news, #Stanford coach David Shaw has stepped down, effective immediately.

I still can't believe we-meaning ND-lost to them this fall.
given the NFL's desire for more black coaches

I imagine he's going to be a hot name in the hiring cycle this spring.
I coveted him for a while

To come here. Was probably at Stanford a bit too long
Amazing he managed to keep the job that long

They’ve been reallllly bad recently and were only mediocre before that.
He would do well on TV

Right now. That would be the best course of action for a year or two.
That's a shame

I really like him
They had a impressive run with Harbaugh

and the first few years of Shaw. I really enjoyed how they played the game from a LOS perspective.

Who knows where he goes. Maybe he is done with coaching and pursues other avenues. He probably gets another shot if he wants it though a top job may not be in the cards.

There was a lot of NFL interest at one point.
I remember a time when many wanted him to be our next HC
Anakim : 11/27/2022 10:11 am : link
And in 2004, people wanted Bob Stoops or Kirk Ferentz.

Ah, so it goes.
Stanford has had a terrible run for the last few seasons

what a drop off.
3-9 each of the last two seasons
Vanzetti : 11/27/2022 12:37 pm : link
And lost the last two to Cal

His recruiting probably suffered from all the craziness in Bay Area

Yea, I've never gotten the infatuation with him. Mediocre after the Harbaugh shine wore off.
He did a great job...for the most part.

Stanford is an impossible place to get great recruiting classes because of the academic requirements. Same reason Notre Dame is overrated every year...just can't get the horses Bama and UGA get.

I think the 2 Covid seasons probably gave him an extra 2 years there. The administration wasn't going to fire a guy that had success earlier in his career during the pandemic. But yeah, he was there too long.
