Only twice in eleven games have Giants held opponents to under 4 yards per carry. And these numbers do not exhibit any pattern that I can discern in regard to when players were out due to injury. It has been pretty consistent all year long -- the inability of the Giants Front 6 to slow up an opponent's run game:
Opponent/Rushes/Yards/YPC
TEN/ 26/ 93/ 3.6
CAR/ 23/ 146/ 6.3
DAL/ 30/ 176/ 5.9
CHI/ 32/ 149/ 4.7
GB/ 20/ 94/ 4.7
BAL/ 24/ 211/ 8.8
JAX/ 21/ 142/ 6.8
SEA/ 25/ 87/ 3.5
HOU/ 19/ 101/ 5.3
DET/ 37/ 160/ 4.3
DAL/ 39/ 169/ 4.3
Total/ 296/ 1528/ 5.2
IMO, Joe Schoen needs to address this issue in the 2023 Draft. And while he needs to expend serious Draft capital on the WR position, as well as his interior offensive line, not to mention TE, CB and maybe QB, he also needs to address his defensive front 6 where there is a significant talent deficiency against the run. He needs to find 2 premium ILBs and new talent at DT to spell the tandem of Leonard Williams/Dexter Lawrence. Or, to eventually replace one of them.
We need another couple Drafts & FA periods.
Davidson will be back, Moreaux may come along, and grab a big body Day 3. Might pick up a DT in FA, also, for not too much.
is Wink's 4-2-5 base formation? That's at least one less big guy out there. If we had a real live breathing 2-way ILB with uber-talent (which we haven't seen in a decade and more) maybe we could run a standard 4-3 more often.
Yep. Another injury in a long line of injuries that have decimated this franchise for almost a generation.
Dead on!
Let's hope JS recognizes its a big issue. The teams in the NFCE are not going to give up the run anytime soon. The division has always been this way for the most part. With the current QB's in the division the best path seems to be to put the ball in the hands of the QB.
+1
They make tackles 5 yards off LOS and both are awful in pass coverage
Definitely need to address ILB day 2 of draft.. big fan of Jack Campbell
If Ojulari played this year Ward could have been moved inside a bit to help Dex and Williams
Yes, "Defenso Tackeless" spell
Definitely need to address ILB day 2 of draft.. big fan of Jack Campbell
I don't know where he's projected, but Tough, Smart, Dependable- Tommy Eichenberg- OSU. Played yesterday with both thumbs heavily taped- says it's made him improve his tackling technique, lol
No doubt, we need to find guys who are good at this besides the guys on our IR who may or may not be qualified to do such.
It has pained me to watch these teams beat us up on the LOS.
