NGT: Beckham being Beckham again

Eric from BBI : Admin : 11/27/2022 2:17 pm
Ryan Dunleavy @rydunleavy

I don’t know much and can’t confirm, but there is video making rounds now and airport passengers accusing Odell Beckham of unruly behavior on a flight that had to deboard

CG @TheMalibuArtist

Replying to @obj
Forcing us off the plane because you were unresponsive and unruly is not comedy to the hundreds of folks trying to get home dude. Not cool man.

That could be...ambien does weird things to people. But IIRC, you need to have 8 hrs of inactivity to be able to use it correctly.

Drama follows the guy whereever he goes.

I wouldn't call this situation "drama"

Dude took an ambien and is out of it. Attendant tries to wake him up so that he can fasten his belt, but he's out of it. Pilot lands the plane cause they are concerned for his health.

From what I read, that's all that happened

But regardless, I still want him to sign here.

That isn't all that happened. When police and fire responded to a possible medical emergency, they asked him to get off the plane, and he refused. Until eventually, they had to get everyone else off the plane first.

So like I said, drama follows the guy wherever he goes. Just get on a airplane without it becoming news. It's not hard.

He was flying Miami to LA, so if he took it he probably timed it by taking it right before he boarded to be knocked out for the 6 hours in the air.

I feel bad for the other people on that flight who had to be delayed, but this might be a bit of an overblown story. Flight crew did the right thing looking out for his safety, but I'd wager that he's done this sort thing before with most flight crews looking the other way.

Who is OBJ Dude?

I like OBJ a lot. But he is just not worth a long term deal especially if he won't be ready until the last two games.

They can draft someone in the 2nd or 3rd round for a fraction of what he will want that does not have two ACL repairs.

My personal feelings about Beckham are irrelevant. There's absolutely a contract he could sign with the Giants that I'd be fine with. But it's probably not a contract he's interested in signing.

My concern is that Schoen listens to fans motivated by sentiment and overpays for a 30-year-old less than ten months removed from ACL surgery. Barkley tore his ACL in Week 2 of the 2020 season and it was two years before he was back to his old self.

Most people would put on their seatbelt and the flight would take place.
I'm sure we'll get more details soon
eclipz928 : 11/27/2022 5:47 pm : link
but it sounds like he was asked to put on a seatbelt but because he was so out of it he didn't respond to the instruction. At that point the flight crew had to take precautions regarding his mental/ physical state and get him off the plane.

Beckham probably not understanding the situation and how it looked for other people likely argued to stay on the plane once medical staff and police showed up. I'm sure he said that he was fine, and just tired - but at the end of the day he's responsible for following the airline rules and shouldn't expect special treatment.

But again, there's no indication as of yet that he was being belligerent towards flight crew or that he even verbally refused to put on his seat belt.

No drama here.

Exccept, maybe, if you are one of the hundreds forced to have your travel plans disrupted and forced to de-board, be delayed, and miss whatever you had planned. But hey, it probably wasn't as important as Odells sleep.

I'm sure the kids and people witnessing the police and firetrucks and ambulances likewise concur it was a low drama scene.

I'm glad you cleared it up for us that it was only the fact he had taken a sedative hypnotic called ambien that caused all this.

BTW, where did you first learn this was caused by the sedative-hypnotic class drug called Ambien?, I didn't see it in any reports anywhere. Or did you just pull that out of your ass? Is there anything else up there?

He didn't do ANYTHING wrong.

Except REFUSE to put on his seatbelt ( note he wasn't unconcious, he out and out refused). THEN he slipped back out of consciousness. Why should he have to put on his seatbelt. Didn't they know he had a special exception cuz Odell? He's fucking special, dontha' know.

Then, he REFUSED to depart the plane( note at that point he wasn't unconcious, he just refused), UNTIL EVERYONE ELSE was forced off, and only THEN did he leave.

But he did nothing wrong.

Exzcuse me for thinking this man is the same nasccisisstic asshole he always was, that NEVER see's his own faults, and is a perpetual victim.

Fuck him. Making excuses for him is what turned him into an asshole in the first place. Let him get stoned in Dallas.

What part is Overblown, specificcally? what part is it exactly that you are indignant about. That they wouldn't have the plasne take off without a special ezxception of flight rules for OBJ? or thast people are indignant they had their flight cancelled? Or is it the reactions of those here, who see the same self ccentered narcicist that got run out of town. I realize you clearly think Odell's behavior was appropriate, you'vestated that, so which group is accting inappropriately in an "overblown" manner? The polise and airline following procedure? The indignant disboarded? or the forum regulars who see more of the same? Tell us, oh wise one.

Tim in Eternal Blue : 11/27/2022 9:04 pm : link
Earlier today, Odell Beckham Jr boarded a morning flight in Miami without any problems,” the statement reads. “The flight was delayed after boarding and prior to take off. Mr. Beckham fell asleep with his blanket over his head, which is his normal practice for long flights. He was awaken[ed] and told that the plane was back at the gate and that he needed to get off the plane because he did not put his seatbelt on when asked. He responded that he was asleep, and that he would put his seatbelt on at that time. He was informed that it was too late, and that either he would have to get off the plane or everyone would have to deplane.

[i]“The overzealous flight attendant insisted on removing everyone from the plane instead of simply allowing Mr. Beckham to fasten his seatbelt and proceed with the flight. At no time was Mr. Beckham disruptive or combative. He was willing to comply with the seatbelt requirement, but the flight attendant wanted to prove that he had the authority to have Mr. Beckham removed from the flight. The airline proceeded to send Mr. Beckham’s luggage to Los Angeles without him.

“That incident was unnecessary. Sleeping on a plane should not be a cause for removal from a flight. If they could wake him up when the flight returned to the gate, then they could have done the same thing to ask him to put on his seatbelt.”

Makes no sense whatsoever. So if they woke him up and told him he had to get offf or everyone else did, obviously, the rest of the passengers were STILL on the plane at that time. Yet they were eventually deplaned, so clearly he refused first to put his seatbelt on, then, after they got back to the gate, then refused to get off. Why else would everyone else had to deplane? They told him get off and he complied? he didn't, because the aircraft wouldn't have been evacuated if he had.

That's best case IF you accept he had no interaction before that. Thgat he didn't refuse to put his seatbelt on, and was unconscious the whole time that he CLAIMS he was sleeping with a blanket he pulled over his head. He still forced the everyone else to deplane, knowingly. Sure sounds like the same old nasrcissist to me.

Remind me again why anyone thought he changed? Was there somewhere along the way where he accepted any responsibility for anything? I don't think there was. It's always someone else's fault.
What's particularly interesting is 20 minutes passed
Red Right Hand : 11/28/2022 2:11 am : link
between when the cops got ON the plane, AFTER they went back to the gate, and when they told everyone else to get OFF the plane, according to witnesses. 20 minutes trying to get him off before they decided to deplane everyone else. Only AFTER they took everyone else off did Odell finally aquiesce to leave the aircraft.

His lawyer staetement doesn't even contradict this.

Anyone else would have been arrested.
Move on....
