Honest Opinions Wanted

Sy'56 : 11/28/2022 1:17 pm
Hi all-

Someone mentioned (and a few agreed) that in the BBI Game Reviews - they skip the game recap and move right to the player analysis.

To be blunt with myself - I know I am more of a scout that is trying to write. I am not a writer that is trying to scout. Professional journalists are much better at that than I am. Completely aware of that.

Personally - writing the game recap is a time/word suck (give or take 1,200 words) and I could switch the format up if you (and Eric) agree it would be better content for you to read. Here are 3 options and any opinions would be welcomed. I have thick skin - you can be real.

A) Keep it as is.

B) Take away Game Recap - add a bit more to Player Analysis

C) Instead of a Game Recap - write the 3 most influential / turning points of the game. This mayget dicey and cause unnecessary disagreements / fights - but maybe could add more discussion.

I am all ears, thanks.

B - though I'll mention
Matt123 : 11/28/2022 3:13 pm : link
That I've never had any issues with your writing (vs the "professional writers"). This has nothing to do with writing quality.

B - at that point we all know what happened

The Player analysis you create is so interesting and there isn’t anything like it online
Easy for me

Because I never read the recaps…

So B or C works for me.

THANK YOU, SY!

C. I appreciate all your effort and high quality work. I would encourage to do whatever you are comfortable with and if you want to try something new you will have a appreciative audience to see how it is taken.

No need for you to be a reporter. The more analysis you provide, the better. Great job Sy.

Save yourself time Sy. Most of us watch the game at least once if not more times and review video and read a ton about our team. But it is YOUR opinions that we value so much.

Thank you for all you do!
B or C works for me

I say B, and thanks for all your work and insight.
I'd go with C but with the flexibility that it doesn't have to be

exactly 3. It can be more or less depending on what you feel works best for that game.

I am one who usually skips to the analysis and a lot of times I find myself even their wanting a bit more on out thoughts on the players coming from a scout. Always a pleasure to hear about things you pick up on from players, that we might be blind too. I think it would create a better discussion on players and this team as well. Thanks for your contributions Sy’, definetly the best content poster here. Your appreciated.

Your analysis of the positions/players is the part I skip to each week. Everyone here watches the games and knows what happened. What you so eloquently add is the why it happened.
Thank you for even considering switching things up in the first place

Both The Game Review & Player Analyses Are Great

“The player analysis is what I'm looking for.” And I agree.

IF the Game Review is a chore and the player evaluations come more easily, I’d clearly vote for “B” as the detailed player evaluations are a more rare and insightful group of content than the game review.

As others have said, your contributions both in season and off season are among the top “reasons to visit BBI”. Keep up the great work.
In a "perfect scenario"..

I like "B" and LOVE "C" . Would a blend of the two satisfy all? That would get my vote, I brief over the game summary, by the time I read this forum I have watched the game 2+ times more often than not.

Would be most interested in the unedited notes you take while watching. That said, skip the review, even the turning points. I would rather have more player analysis.

Teach us.

Give us a few plays to look at on the All 22 each week related to the extra analysis.

Yes, I am asking for homework.
A - you and Eric write better stuff

You write a great game recap, but Eric does also, and has already done it, which makes this a bit redundant.

Love your reviews!

I have not read anyone’s Game recap in many, many years. I love the idea of more player info and view….although you do a great job of that already! Thank you!

I'm just happy with any contribution you make to this site. As to your options, since you may want to cut down on the amount of writing, I'd say "C", since it may provide a bit more insight into your player evaluations.
But i think you should share your

Anyone can watch the highlights and read recaps from nfl.com or any of the writers that are paid to write about the team and games. Your value add is analysis insights and opinions.

Although you do it very well, the game recap feels like it’s a chore.

Player analysis, thoughts on the opponents and the Jints - all great stuff. Thanks for all your contributions to the site, really makes it worthwhile for me.
