I am well aware of the problem that inside linebackers have been for this team, complained about it personally. So it isn't a secret that improvement is warranted.
But what type of personnel would improve the quality of play? All off-ball/inside linebackers have to be good tacklers, but there's variety in scheme. In Wink's blitz-heavy scheme linebackers are often taken off the field on passing downs or they blitz, he leaves covering heavier personnel like tight ends to safeties. Tampa-2 linebackers are supposed to be good in coverage, with the MIKE linebacker dropping as much as 30 yards downfield to stick with a tight end.
Finally, can anything be salvaged from our current linebackers?
Be tough to count on beavers Hopefully acl tear was clean and he is good to go in sept Will have a full yr to recover so should be
We obviously need another ilb, possibly 2 if u dont thin micah M can be a valuable option as main back up, sometime starter
Would love to draft one in first 100 picks
Add a veteran MLB at medium priced dollars in Free Agency, and then follow it up and draft another Beavers-type early on Day 3. And then see how Beavers himself looks as summer camp progresses. If needs to go on IR, then so be it.
Overall investment should be moderate.

Ilb is modest investment compared to salarys of other positions
we need close to a full revamp i guy like J smith should be a vet back up type guy or part time starter we need a couple of tackling machines sorta what a blake M was to us pre acl not great but solid
Otherwise, positional value/talent equation likely makes ILB 3rd+ rd.
This week, you can sense a handful of players will be available that were not.
Earlier in the season the PS elevations were more match up based then injury necessity.
This week you may see Jefferson and or Collins back on game day which could help. Even though they are safeties they both at this stage of their career are more hybrid.
Jefferson especially, with his knowledge of Wink, Wink's system etc.
Didn't he retire?

Blake Martinez is available.

Once a Giant, always a Giant
JD Bertrand and Jack Kiser, both very athletic and fast both seem to hit really hard and to me that is the most important thing we need. Speed hitters at linebacker, run and hit through the ball carried physicality is been missing for so long at the linebacker position. We will not win anything until we get some good linebackers.
Kids gonna be a stud….his position hurts his draft value, (and helps us)but this dudes a baller. Please let him be a Giant!
Beavers is a wild card, but I'm not relying on a Day-3 pick who never played an NFL snap to start for this team.
David too old
Rather run with a lower cost FA , a fairly high pick and beavers
Exactly
Likely the thinking that wound up with Toney.

You draft the best player available but I'd like to see the draft picks go towards the higher impact/higher paid players like a WR or CB. You can get an above average or better ILB for a reasonable sum in FA, but CBs, WRs and DEs cost a ton either in FA or to resign and are better developed while they are cheaper.

Or with Jamar Chase, Justin Jefferson, Tee Higgins, Jaylen Waddle, etc. Sometimes you get Andrew Thomas, sometimes Eric Flowers, you do your due diligence and hope for the best!
