NFT: Rest in peace, Wilko Johnson

One of my rock and roll heroes, he inspired everyone. And many have no idea who he was. For a time, there was this little band from "Oil City" Canvey Island in Essex called Dr. Feelgood. They were a bluesy pub band that was on the verge of going big until the punk scene drowned them out.

Wilko Johnson was their guitarist. He had an unusual flair, kind of a staccato style, and he fucking rocked. He fought cancer for a loooong time, and was still playing out as recently as October. He's a local legend where he lives, and has played with just about everyone you can imagine that plays bluesy pub rock. Paul Weller, Madness, Ian Drury and the Bockheads, Roger Daltry, the Canvey Island Allstars...the list is long. Seek out his music on YouTube. It's a fun ride. 75 years young.
