Saquon is a little beat-up, that's not hard to see, somebody else needs to punish the L.O.S. I'd like to see him in a "Tony Pollard" role, he's fast, runs hard and about the same size as Pollard.
But is not the between-the-tackles answer. Granted, Brightwell does not have break-away speed but is a willing back who hits the hole much harder than Breida.
We need to know what the other backs can do. Saquon may not be around and if he is may no longer be what he was earlier this season. Run is a big part of our offense. We need to know what we have.
brightwell is considerably slower than tony pollard. 4.42 vs 4.62 is a huge difference.
That speed difference does not mean much when you are looking for a first down. He appears to have some shiftiness. That should be his role in spelling Barkley.
His draft report indicated that "he has feet to help gather and cut quickly on outside zone carries and makes sharp cuts with ability to hit steep cutback angles. [...] He makes level-one tacklers miss with consecutive cut ability".
"Seeing more" of Brightwell is not the same as suggesting he replace Saquon.
breida was in buffalo with daboll. Brightwell is a shitty kick returner that has 10 career rushes in 3 years... pretty sure everyone in the Giants organization knows who these guys are. Unless the assumption is that Daboll is currently not playing the players who give them the best chance to win
You telling me watching Brightwell run last week made you think he’s slow?
Shit, he exploded through the holes and ran hard and fast. I 100% want more GB if that’s the way he’s gonna play… he looked damn good
Having Saquon and other rotating backs is probably the best answer
Saquon cannot carry 30 times a gamex 17 games. Boomer mentiomed that Detroit rotates 3 backs. It's not great for fantasy football hacks but the backs get a break.
Comparatively. That’s not an observation that should go unmentioned
probably easier to do when every defender starts chasing saquon. Its like no one realizes that the reason those holes were open. is because barkley is on the field and no one, including the defense thought the giants would give it to him.
I'm not saying a rotation and giving barkley a break from time to time wouldnt be a bad idea. but lets not kid ourselves into thinking a bottom of the barrel running back or a journeyman makes our team better when it takes barkley out of the game
Listening to BBKL Monday recap Paul indicated the trust with the OL isn’t there right now for SB - and rightly so. However, behind the same line some holes materialized for a different running back. So whether it’s because the defense changed their priorities or any variety of other factors, the point is the run game was immediately more effective with a different player there.
It’s interesting to see and glad the coaching staff gave him those reps.
Has been a huge problem the last cpl weeks. Besides continuity being off the RT and LG are legit practice squad players. And glowinski has been awful.
On top of that teams have been disciplined into holding the edge and not letting jones keep the option runs. I do think he has to run more and the staff has to figure that out. But that is secondary to the OL. IMO ANYWAY
Britewells big runs while impressive weee made possible because Barkley was a decoy on those plays.
I wouldn’t mind limiting saquon to 2/3 of the carries
And handful of touches for brightwell and breida
Saquon not a 30x per game guy
Think his sweet spot probably 18-22
Brightwell will get us some first downs and seems to make positive yardage
Breida still has some juice in his legs
Oline getting healthy, hopefully this week( Neal especially) will really help run game
Think Neal May have played yesterday if we had a game but makes sense to give him an xtra 10 days
He is 5 weeks out. Should be close to 100%
The same way he has for the last two weeks, without authority and power, and continues to not finish his runs then I really hope we see more of both the other RB’s. For whatever reason Saquan is not the runner he was earlier in the season, he is falling down at first touch and is noticeably hesitant to make contact.
We should all hope that Brightwell has the problem of being chased down from behind after breaking a run. This kid accelerates into the line with no nonsense. Need more of that
trusts the line. Do the damn job, hit the line and either fall forward, or break through.
He's already proven than dancing hesitancy is not going to get the job done. What makes him think not getting the job done will make the money truck come his way?
I'm guessing limited carries for Brightwell have been for a reason. Don't get all starry eyed because one or two runs worked well when everyone was chasing decoy SB.
Like others, I'm confused as to why there has been only limited RB rotation. Stick with the hot hand has limitations in the long run. When SB continually isn't getting it done, especially in dance mode, switch it up.
Comparatively. That’s not an observation that should go unmentioned
There is 40 speed and play speed. Barkley is much faster than Brightwell and in the open field that would not be a contest. Barkley is still fast but he isn't playing fast anymore. I don't know if it is physical, mental or both. Whatever it is he has looked like he is running in ankle deep mud these past few weeks.

As of last night, that looks like what Pittsburgh was doing with Snell
The reinforcements on the OL should make a big difference
Neal seems to be a good run blocker already and Brederson should be an improvement over the rotating turnstiles that have played left guard. I don't think people realize what these injuries on the line due to the running game.
I'd like to see him blocking in some reps and taking less then a handful of carries. He's like a bull in a china shop , 1 cut power downhill runner. if he had 10 total offense snaps that would be good enough for me.

The pony package (I think they call it) where they ran those misdirection with 26 running that orbit / jet fake was pretty successful against Dallas

Was so excited for Corbin this preseason!
If defenses get to see the play on tape and prepare, the legend of Gary Brightwell will probably diminish.
