Agree. As much as the team needs a pass catcher, this would be the wrong move at the wrong time. The Giants might need to start over with the QB, RB and other positions in the offseason. A highly paid, aging oft-injured WR is not what the team needs--especially since we already have one of those.
Our top receivers are Darius Slayton, Richie James, and Isiah Hodgins. You guys really think OBJ can't contribute? He's going to be cheap and a gamble that may pay off. The season is on the line, the team needs him for the morale boost alone.

That’s exactly how I see it. We are barely floating but we have a lot of meaningful football coming up. Get OBJ get some injured guys back and see what we can do. Learning to win is important for culture. Getting to the playoffs and being in that game is huge for our young core. Obj helps that so I’m all for the signing
cheap. He wants a two or three year deal and likely isn't ready until week 15. Unless he is playing for vet minimum, why would you want him? And I like him and he could help a little.

I haven’t liked the OBJ idea, but you make a good point; these young WRs probably idolized OBJ when they were playing high school ball - maybe he could inspire improved play down the homestretch.
I can understand what so many nay sayers are saying, but I really think Odell would help this team as soon as he steps on the field. It'll also help take some of the pressure off Saquon, as the opposing defence will have to focus on a legitimate WR on this team. I also think Darius Slayton would benefit from working around OBJ, not to leave out Robinson and Shepherd next season.
The guy wants to settle in and be a part of a good team, so why not let him come back and make his original team become contenders!
progress undeniably is being made, but it’s not like we’re just a WR away from being a Super Bowl contender. So don’t make an expensive mistake by bringing in a malcontented distraction. It would be shortsighted and detrimental to the long term wellbeing of the franchise.
He wants the circus of pitting the Giants against the Cowboys so people are talking about him again. He is no signing with the Giants. But just signing with the Cowboys is a less interesting story.
The Giants desperately need a wide receiver and they are in the playoff picture. Short term, someone like Odell who was at one point on track to be the next Jerry Rice who has won a Super Bowl and whose presence would open things up for the offense would be very tempting. He’s also relatively young and though he’s had some issues with QBs, for the most part a highly respected teammate. He plays with heart and passion.
On the flip side, you would need to do some significant due diligence on his physical and mental health and accept the fact that there ia a high risk he will be a negative distraction and/or re-injure himself . You would also need to assess whether the risk is worth his market value.
I trust Schoen either way but glad they are at least exploring.
what his skill set after two major knee injuries. no way I sign him for more than the rest of the season. Im surprised the Ravens are not interested their wideouts may be worse than ours.
What CAN he bring to the field after 2 ACLs, all the other injuries, and he’s 30.
What he does bring in the locker room is a professional presence, who prepares properly and works at his craft ( those were the reports about him before, his team mates loves him.) His issues are his News for attention and becoming a distraction. He actually, would be a good mentor for a top pick WR next year.
If he has something left and they can work out a contract, then it’s a possibility
If nyg and Mara are just doing OBJ a solid by feigning interest.
Something like that. But he's a disruptive headcase, too often injured, with an overly large number on himself. No good for the Giants.
it just seems out of NYG character both historically and even in the now. Daboll and Schoen have all but eschewed any short term vet type moves save for for the 1-2 guys they picked up in vet FA (guards) --and with BEckham not likely to play this year? We're going to get him on the cheap I get it, even if only for next year, but this just doesn't sound genuine but here we are with OBJ coming in to visit.
Maybe they think OBJ is the better option for next year in the whole pool of potential talents? Link below WR UFA 2023 - ( New Window )

Is that a certainty that he's not playing this year?

This made me laugh

Where are you seeing the $15 million thing?
