Hey all -- my nephew is getting married in August in Skagway Alaska over a long weekend. We figure that as long as we are going all that way we should make an extended stay of it. We are exploring the idea of fly fishing in Hanes, which is a ferry ride away from Skagway...
Anybody have any other ideas for us to take advantage of besides our extended weekend Wedding party activities which include a pub crawl in Skagway, a tour of the Upper Lynn Canal, Gold Rush National Park, a hike along the Chilkoot Trail, and a raft down the Taiya River.....

+1 on the Yukon Railroad tour, that was amazing. Lots of museums in Skagway, including the Red Onion Saloon Brothel Museum (they offer a really good walking tour of the downtown, going through Skagway's history. Skagway isn't big, but it's a lot of fun, and one of the highlights for me and my wife when we took the Princess Cruise to Alaska.
2. Whitewater rafting Hope Alaska
3. Brooks falls bear fishing salmon
4. Dog sledding in anchorage
5. ATV to a glacier if I remember it was in Kinik
The second time I did the Kroschel Wildlife Reserve tour and it was awesome. The owner did films for Disney so is a bit of a showman while doing the tour. I actually got to pet a porcupine and kiss a moose.
It was a bit of a drive as you have to take a ferry then a drive past Haines, but it was worth it

John -- that is my strategy as well -- I have found a fly fishing guide service in Hanes, and we've been in touch with them.
