From an English Giant.
Congrats on progressing to the knockout rounds of the World Cup. Great achievement & you played very, very well against us to get a draw at the weekend.
I’m obviously hoping England go all the way, but I will be rooting for you guys otherwise.
Anyway, I’m over in NYC for new year and will be at the game vs Colts on the 1st Jan. Looking forward to seeing big blue again, and hoping we can push on and make the play offs. In Schoen and Daboll we trust!
We’ll find a way to mess it up like usual! France or Brazil will win it imo
I never remember seeing a U.S. team have possession like they did in the first half vs. Iran and building up to multiple scoring opportunities. Probably should have scored more vs. Iran (?), but the fact that we seemed a class above Iran was great. I don't remember ever watching a World Cup game where the U.S. seemed to be a class above our opponent.
Greg - too bad you can't add sound to that clip, the differing reactions from the announcers really makes that clip special.

Certainly massive improvement in the USA. You would expect it to continue over the years. Playing a brand of football (pressing, attacking) that we largely see in Europe.
The next stage may be a step too far but certainly a lot to be proud of and a step in the right direction. A draw against England who were 3rd favorites with most bookies (gambling) is a sign of that.
Also, has there been an explanation for how Reyes is being used (or not used). I read that he’s healthy and thought he was one of the better players on the roster.

It was reported on the post-game show that Pulisic went to the hospital, which obviously is not encouraging. We will see; hope he's OK.
There has not been any explanation I'm aware of from GB as to why Reyna is not being used, and in fact there has been some controversy about GB saying Reyna didn't play against Wales because of muscle tightness (or similar), which apparently Reyna denied. My guess is that, against Iran, GB doesn't consider Reyna physical enough. He's obviously very skilled. If Pulisic can't go against Netherlands, we may see some of Reyna (although Aaronson did well as Pulisic's replacement today).
Go USA!!!!

On the other hand, England put up 6 on Iran and 3 on Wales, while the US could only manage 1 goal in each game.
So, they are improving, but they still have a way to go to be considered WC contenders.

But they did not score on the US...of course the US did not score on England either. There is not yet a bonafide scorer on the US aside from Pulisic. Weah looks like he could develop with that speed.
Gotta say in first half we had the ball at the top of the box at least 3 times where our guy should have pulled the trigger. Instead, they got too fine with ball and passed it into the box where it was easily defended / swatted away.
Also Weah had at least two shots where he lifted the ball over the goal. Not a great effort.

Agree as to Aaronson. And Wappingers Falls!

^^^ Weah needs to be both more aggressive and more precise. Wright was one of the timid souls who wouldn't take a shot deep in the 9-minute stoppage time. I suppose this team is not as used to playing with a lead -- they must protect -- as we'd prefer them to have been.
