We are in the process of converting our unable-to-use-due-to-chimney-liner-cracks wood fireplace to a gas-insert using propane since we don't have natural gas where I am.
To do so, there will need to be a 400 gallon propane tank stored next to the house. I've never had a propane tank before, but is it generally safe to have it next to the house on the outside of our attached garage? WE really don't have much space elsewhere to put it.
And propane tanks are perfectly safe to mount just outside the house.
A little unsightly maybe but safe.
Maybe you can add a run to the back of the house for your bbq.
Distance from windows etc. see attach link below. Being a garage they may not apply unless it is an attached garage. Read up on it or ask the installer.

The company you rent/buy your propane tank from will safely handle all the connections after your fireplace is installed.
It’s an insert so it’s vented with its own liner

I did. I've done a lot of research online and in person. Electric just doesn't cut it for me. It would be for aesthetics only - not a whole lot of heat coming out.
I did but we're also looking at moving away from a traditional wood burning to either propane - fueled gas insert or a wood burning insert, both of which come with their own integrated liners.
