NFT: Recommendations on kids soccer goal/backstop

GiantCuse : 12/1/2022 6:02 am
My kids are very into soccer and love kicking balls into the crappy goal we have in the yard now. I'd like something a little more sturdy and possibly some sort of mobile backstop solution (so I can move it to mow the grass). Anyone have any luck with a particular brand/style? Bonus if the netting can work for lacrosse as well.
I got some used ones from at it again

They are light and cold down into a frisbee - like the kind coaches uses for mobile goals. This would be for a 6-8 year old size. Is that what you are thinking?
When my kids were that age I put

Four posts in the ground. I used chain link fence poles. 3 feet in the ground three feet above. Then I put 12 foot chain link top rails into the sleeves so I had a 50 foot backstop 12 feet tall. You can buy the netting at lax.com.

Lacrosse balls were expensive and I didn't want them in the neighbors yard. I mulched the area at the base of the netting and it kind of blended in.

Your kids will be flinging stuff around for a couple of years so half measures won't do
How old are your kids?

I have really nice 3’x4’ goals that break down east but that’s for a 7 year old. Next year I may get her this. It looks like the net can be raised for mowing.

something like Oghwa (which sounds awesome) what you are looking for gets in to the very expensive price range, worth it probably, but how much did you want to spend?

I dealt with similar stuff but it was hockey nets and pucks and after replacing my garage door I sprung for a good net with a very wide netted backstop.

have this and its fantastic- just make sure when you mow lawn you dont hack the net- or if you have a lawn service that they dont--- but its amazing and well worth it- covers a lot of ground so unlikely to chase the ball around

But the Forza goals have been great for my kids.

Is what I've been told if you want to accelerate their skill development. It dramatically increases the number of shots they can take and teaches them how to bring the ball under control (off the rebound). My little guys like to decorate the box as well.

Buy a goalrilla rebounder

Kinda pricey but will last

Good to know, thanks! I think I’ll spring for it. She players almost year round and if it’s the sport she sticks with it’s a small price to pay. My backyard is a good size but I need to bring in some top soil in the spring to level out some spots - I’ll probably get this afterward.
