I've always been a big fan of Shepard and have felt terrible on his injuries given that. Reading this, I really hope he finds a way to stay in blue, whether it be a 1 year vet minimum deal, coming back as some type of coach, player ambassador, etc.

“I was like, ‘You know what? I’m staying for the game,” Shepard said. “I’m not going up in the box. I’m going down on the field.’”
“It’s really awesome to have that energy on the sideline and know you can count on him for that type of energy,” said Williams, who appreciates Shepard’s spirit even more after his own three-game absence due to a knee injury. He, like any player who’s missed time, knows it’s not easy to keep a smile on your face when you’re not contributing on the field.
By all means hire him for another role in the organization.

I agree. But it's hard for players to walk away from the kind of money they make.
Maybe if he decides to hang up the cleats, a coaching role could be in his future? He’s always been more of a cerebral player.
If he wants to keep playing, Schoen should at least try to keep him.

should really think about the rest of his life. With the injuries he's sustained thus far, he should retire from playing.

I agree that it has to be hard to walk away from the money, but, even though I never played, it has to be even harder to walk away from the competition and the camaraderie that the game provides.
Or I guess now that I'm in 40s and seeing players I grew up with dying young (40-60), it makes me wonder.
However, this team really needs to cluster draft the WR position- need some new blood and speed/separation ability. Slayton is the only healthy NFL WR on this roster and he’s a FA after the season
No, 2024 is a voidable year.
