just curious what everyone/anyone thinks was the most unique Giants team. Whether by schema; collection of players with unusual skillsets, unusual ways of winning?
That team was annoying. They'd always go up by 2 or 3 possessions early in the game and somehow, some-fucking-way, the opponent would obliterate that lead AND the game would come down to the final play.
Foreshadowing of things to come in the playoffs that very season?
Even that last game against the Eagles that was a thriller, shouldn't have been a thriller.
Giants had what? Close to 500 yards on offense but only had 10 points on the board ... with OT?
Some bullshit officiating in that game, too. But good. Fuck Dave Akers.
2022, Gettleman leftovers plus Schoen picks and BUF-related FA’s..started season power ranked #32…multiple injuries…playoff contenders in the league’s best division
I thought that team was pretty good. Back to back 1 point losses in STL and hosting Philly on MNF. 15-14 & 10-9 losses. Just brutal. The Giants especially dominated that Eagle game and kept settling for FG’s. Just destroyed the season.

I think they had 2 touchdowns called back due to bogus holding calls and Tiki fumbled 3 times in the redzone.

That season was so overshadowed by 9/11 plus post Super Bowl hangover disease which seems to infect every team the season after I really don't remember much about the 2001 squad aside from a few moments here and there
2006 playoff appearances saves Coughlin, but that doesn't last, after week 2 in 2007 the pitchforks are back with a porous defense allowing ~80 points in 2 weeks.
Then the team becomes pretty schizophrenic (wins 6 in a row, then 3 - 3) and by December after the Redskins loss people had little hope, the Giants do make the playoffs and had as sort of awakening in BUF as the snow began to fall, but of all things a loss to the Pats in week 17 restores hope then an epic playoff run and first title (beating a 17 - 0 Patriots team) in over 15 years.
10-5-1 with a FB in Charles Way as the leading rusher, and Danny Kanell at QB for the bulk of the year
They had 4 Int TDs on defense, a PR TD by Toomer (who was just getting his feet wet, as was Barber). Robert Harris had 10 sacks to go with Strahan's 14.

I thought 2007 season was the least Giants type like season ever. They won the close games they should've won and the losses were just games they got beat. No stupid comebacks or convenient fumbles for the other team. Maybe the least strenuous regular season of them all?
But that was a much, much better team than their record indicated. Those two back to back 1 point losses to St. Louis & the fucking Eagles were killers.

Didn't they lose to a turd Dallas Cowboys team in Dallas that year? They barely beat them too, at home.
That team made the playoffs and actually won a playoff game something the Giants hadn't done since the early 60's.
They traded for a FB in Ron Carpenter who in only 10 games lead the team in rushing instead of the more common halfback.
And of course they had a rookie named Lawrence Taylor who makes any team unique. He was the NFL defensive player of the year along with defensive rookie of the year, first team All Pro, and pro Bowler.
Kicker Joe Danelo had the longest kick in the NFL that season at 55 yards
Their punt returner Leon Bright would never call for a fair catch regardless of the coverage. He retuned 52 punts that season and didn't call for one fair catch. He also led the team in KO returns.
Of course Phil Simms was as fun a QB to watch as there was, and Dave Jennings (along with Ray Guy) was in a class all his own as a punter. Ive never enjoyed watching someone punt a football as I did Jennings.
All and all the 84 team was such a exciting and pleasant return to the playoffs and beginnings of what would become greatness. They were well coached by Ray Perkins and although deservingly so Parcells gets the lions share of credit for the Giants return to greatness, it was Perkins who did the hard job of righting that losing ship and getting them pointed in the right direction.
Just their playoff run alone was weird.
Eagle game: No offensive touchdowns. Two TDs on specials and defense.
Viking game: Offense goes wild. Team wins 41-0. NO one saw that coming.
Ravens game: We all remember.
Oh well.

It also took 4 hours to leave the parking lot.

A team (or anything else) can't be "most" unique or "more" unique. It's either unique (one of a kind) or it isn't.

You gonna give us an answer or continue making unimportant posts?

Serve a purpose? Is that what you're here for because in most of your posts you just come off like an asshole.
Then again, maybe that's YOUR purpose here.

I would call them a very unique group.
