Does anyone find it somewhat ironic that Ohio State is likely already in...yet they are the one team that doesn't have to play today.
The three that are...Michigan, Georgia, and likely TCU will get in no matter what happens, so why bother playing and risking injuries...if the ultimate goal is winning a national championship.
Crazy that Ohio State has the advantage of not having to play and risk anyone getting hurt, while the other three do.

True. But they’re also stuck likely playing Georgia and can’t improve their positioning.
That was likely to happen in any case since they probably wouldn't want a big ten rematch until the final. I'm just saying, other than a conference championship there is very little incentive for any of the teams to play today and risk injury to some of their better players. It's like that third game of the world cup where France sat everyone because they had already advanced. Realistically, all three of the teams playing today have already advanced. So again, why risk injury?
Quick release. Love the placement on that deep ball to QJ early, and under duress, hit him in stride on the sideline shoulder. Just a thing of perfection.
is a shoe in. There are still some things that can happen that shake things up imv. It's gonna be hard to avoid pretty significant controversy however it ends up but at least they are now expanding the CFP.

probably. What if Michigan loses? Even a extremely close game can change some things imv. It's not likely but I think there is a path for that to happen where they get left out.

Michigan is in no matter what, but they could drop to 4 with a loss.

I agree with this. I also think it changes the equation for Ohio State and opens it up for another team.

The gambling industry would be pissed if they didn't play!
After today's games BBI will be talking about at least 8 qb's who

I posted last week ohio state would end up 4th and it was inferred I was crazy and that USC was a better team.
Faulters just little, OSU is in at 4.
If UM faulters, they are “3.
If both , then they move in OSU to 2, UM to 3, and Alabama to 4.
Ya think Ga-Bama & OSU- UM will get a few viewers?
It’s about the $$$.
I have no faith in the Boilermakers keeping it close to the Wolverines.
I have not seen them. Up in the thread I put that this game could change things and impact Ohio State. A close game to me diminishes the Big 10 and Ohio State which opens it up for Bama. Longshot. I think TCU should be in regardless how this ends.
TCU was always a long shot to get in unless they stayed perfect and they didn't. CFP loves Alabama. I think this will push them to get in. These are also the best 4 teams in the country and would probably also bring in the most viewers
I think 'Bama is a superior team to OSU. & the CFP committee will do WHATEVER they can to get them in.
If USC had won everyone seems to agree they’d be in the CFP. Now only 2 teams have 1 loss. What has changed that now one of them is bounced by a team with 2 losses?
one top 20 victory. They got blown out in the 4th at home. I agree with SFG and unless Purdue plays a very close game I think OSU gets in but shouldn't. I want Bama in but not over TCU. TCU has I think three top twenty wins. They deserve it imv.

TCU played a tougher schedule than Ohio State. Ohio State has no business getting in over them.
If the Trojans win last night, they're a lock. Throw their loss in with TCU & it gets interesting AF. If chalk held last night & today, this would have been a wrap.
I think I just have the Bama fatigue at this point. 2 losses so was like ok they are out. Only team in the country that would be considered with 2 losses based on expectations not results.

That's cool and all, but OSU is still OSU and they sell more tickets and get more tv viewers. Same reason why a 2 loss Alabama will likely get in.

I really don’t think it’s any more complicated than how many losses they have. And 2 teams -as of now - only have 1 loss.
Trust me, as a Michigan fan who was in Indy last year at this time I hate Ohio State and don’t want to see them advance, but I just don’t see how it doesn’t happen.

Not arguing who should be in. But again, late season losses for some reason get weighed heavier. Add in SEC bias and a case can be made for Bama.
By refs on that spot where Duggan came close to scoring. Should’ve been spotted on 1 inch line. Instead of 1 yard line. Even the replay showed it correctly. The refs screwed them
I agree the committee already established Ohio State as 5. I was just suggesting a close game between Purd/Mich should change that imv.
Not following how that would impact OH. You mean higher than 4?
Out of curiosity, why do you keep referring to Ohio State as “OH”? Is this supposed to be some clever dig at them, calling them Ohio instead of Ohio State?

Lol No, just being lazy. But this place will lead to suspicions like yours
Harbaugh certainly responding after some heat with back to back Big 10 titles. Like the way they play. We will see how they match up on the lines soon enough.
Answering why I thought a close Mich/Purd game could have impacted Ohio State. I used the final top 25 rankings.
Bama had wins over MiSU (25) and Texas (20 who also beat KSU 12). Two losses on the road Tenn. (7) and LSU (11) by four total points.
Ohio State. Only win against Penn State (8). Lost Michigan (2) by 15 at home.
The thing I saw Penn State. Penn State does not have a win against a top 25 team all season (based on final rankings).
Bama Strength of schedule 8. Ohio State 67.
The fact that the committee already put OSU at 5 makes it hard to change now imv. If Purdue (unranked) played a really close game and lost I think it further diminished the Big 10 strength and Ohio States one win over a top 25 team.
I also think Bama is a team who could give Georgia a game. Maybe OSU will shine in the playoffs if things stay as they most likely appear they will. I think should absolutely be in.
No 2-loss team belongs .... period !!!! Has NEVER happened before. Adios Alabama.
Georgia and Michigan #1 and #2. TCU with first loss, and Ohio State with 1 loss, both get in. Ohio State will be #4 since committee doesn't want a repeat of a recent game in the semi's (Wolverines and Buckeyes). UGA beats Ohio State, Michigan beats TCU. UGA beats Michigan just as bad as last year. Dawgs repeat as CF Champions and then plan for three in a row next year !!!!
The win over LSU gave Georgia its "fifth" win over a team ranked in the College Football Playoff top 25 rankings. Ohio State and Alabama have a "combined" four such wins.

Very good points. Agree 100%. Bama should definitely be in.
When they rolled Arkansas in Fayetteville, Arkansas was 20th in the rankings. And when they won in Ole Miss, Ole Miss was 11th.
I have no doubt if they played Georgia, it's a 50/50 game Bama is equally as talented. And built for that game.

Conference championships are VERY meaningful.

USC loss = OH in
TCU loss, they are out, Bama in. Like it or not late season losses hurt more
Alabama or Clemson with 2? LSU with 3?
Alabama or Clemson with 2? LSU with 3?
Alabama. Probably would depend on how close a loss by TCU.

I said this on the USC/Utah thread - Bama should not be in over a one loss TCU.

If your basing it strickly off of whose the better team, then they should be in over a 0 loss TCU

TCU opens the door for alabama.
I agree with this even thought I think Bama has the potential to be a better playoff team.
I don’t think they want another OSU-Michigan game in the semis. TCU to stay at 3
I agree - especially since if they lose today it will be close
If that’s the argument to get Alabama in over Ohio State, I agree with you. But not TCU.
Quote:
As much as I hate 'Bama, their two losses were by a combined 4 points to the Vols & Tigers.

This has been my argument. Especially if Purdue keep it close today. Give me Saban/Young over Day/Stroud. SEC pver Big 10.

Thought they scored on third down based on the overhead view. Surprised it didn’t get a longer look.
Tough loss for TCU, but I still think they should get in.
My CFP projections: 1) Georgia, 2) Michigan, 3) 'Bama, 4) TCU.

Ohio State will be in over a 2 loss Alabama
Georgia vs. OSU

Do it. The ratings will be huge.
1)Georgia
2)Michigan
3)OSU
4)Alabama

OSU's resume is weak AF IMO. And this is coming from a dude who roots for a team that loss to them.

Think he’s right
McCall is coming off a foot injury so what he does today is just gravy. Pratt is just fucking impressive.
Play calling sucked on goal line
OS no way deserves to get in at 11-1
Seriously

Yep -
Yes, he torched Michigan and Penn State, both teams with really strong secondaries. May not be a star, but should be able to have success in the nfl.
