Commanders DE Chase Young will work out before Sunday’s game against the Giants, but is unlikely to play, per source.
The team is bringing him along slowly — and can because the defensive line is playing well.
stapleton and ranaan reporting gates starting at LG
both lines should be improved from the last few weeks.
heinecke doesn't take a lot of sacks but he does throw picks. if they can keep him in 3rd and long ojulari and thibodeaux on 3rd downs are going to be key. the secondary is obviously still subpar but there should be plays there to make.
Feel like every time he caught the ball it was a yard or 2 short of the sticks and always got tackled without getting the yardage necessary to extend the drive.
I don't like even the idea of Gates at LG. He is the only person on the roster who has played OC at a high level in the NFLand Feliciano is a natural G. Why would you move Gates to G? Once he proved he was healthy and could start, he should have been cemented as the OC.
TE may not be a glaring weakness down the stretch.
Might need to temper expectations with Ojulari, but the pass rush could sure use a bookend for Thibodeaux.
What Jefferson lacks at this stage in range and flexibility, he makes up for somewhat with command of the system. Nice add with McKinney’s status unknown.
No OL elevation , so I guess Glowinski is OK.
The Gilbert elevation might be a tell re. Moreau or Flott.
I hope Butler can relieve some of the load on Lawrence and Williams.

I’m with you. It wasn’t even close either. On the broadcast copy in real time it seemed obvious to me that gates was better. Then he graded out higher then any game feliciano had this year. I guess we will see when bredeson gets back.
Glowinski has been pretty terrible the last few weeks. I’d like to see ezudu gates. Bredeson
When Ezeudu and/or Bredeson are back, there should be no way Feliciano sees the field. I wouldn't move Gates at all, but especially not for 1 game and then move him back to OC when others get healthy.

[quote] The position just improved. We now have 3 TE plus an H back on the 53.
Cager more the "big wr" type. 2 guys not on the original 53 have now displaced Hudson.

Cager and who else were not on the original 53?
I’m not sure adding Vannett is an improvement. Can he block better than Hudson?
I hope Gilbert has learned something while on the practice squad

Hudson is 6’5” 239. Vannett is 6’6” 261. Think it’s safe to say he can block better than Hudson who is not terrible but is a below average blocker.
This is different than last year. Last year he was only a C until Judge wanted to get the best 5 OL on the field, not the best unit. Gates went to LG and was really bad. The play he got injured on, he got best but so did our C. I am hoping he will be solid at LG since he has had practice time at the position this year. With all of thag said, I'd be playing him at C.
moves, but I'm not sure what we can reasonably expect from Butler, Vannett, or Ojulari. We have no receivers, the OL is unsettled, Barkley is hurting, and the secondary is a mess. But I don't care. Win the game anyway.

Robbie, love ya,man, but what are you saying?
As others, I have bad vibes about Nick at LG
is not good, I know he's struggling but he's a big player the opposing DB's have to pay attention too at all times plus he's a pretty efficient blocker.

If Sills plays he can block. Hodgins can block , Cager could play a bit of Golladay plays and block. KG's snap counts say he isn't on the field enough to say he is a loss..

I think it also safe to say there is a lot more to blocking ability than size. Those extra 22 pounds don’t mean anything if you’re recognition and technique are poor.
TE position looks much better now than it did in September.
not sure if you listened to the TE coach talk about bellinger this week but he was pretty effusive in how much time bellinger put in off the field and how much farther he is mentally now then he was when got hurt in terms of understanding the offense.
he had already been making a lot of plays and performing at a high level, if he can step it up to another gear that could be a big impact down the stretch.

Yes, I heard that, but I was talking more about Vannett and Cager now being on the 53-man roster.
Never heard of him? Bringing in Butler might help, need depth.
Nick Vannett was a solid prospect coming out of OSU. Third-round pick in Seattle. Giants are his fifth team, but he’s a decent all-around TE. Should be a big upgrade over Hudson, at least as a blocker.

I expect heavy TE usage this game.

That’s promising, maybe they can run the Jones roll-out that moved the chains well early in the season.
Does that mean Fabian is out?

At this point in the season I think Washington is the more talented team, I hope I am wrong.

What other option do they have? The only healthy guards are Gates, Glowinski, and Anderson.

Gates is better than Feliciano at Center. Who do ceners block? DTs and LBs. Same as guards. So he can handle DTs at LG.
Holmes is big for a corner but not particularly fast.
Match up Slayton with Holmes and we just might have something

I don't like putting him at guard. I don't like our interior o line verse their tackles.
