I have to think so. And he must know it too. Jones has always shown himself to be very competitive and tough. I wonder how the added pressure impacts how he performs. Does he/can he pull an Eli and win over the fans, front office and league?
If they win then the next game is the biggest game etc. he’s not the type to crumble under pressure. In fact, he plays well in the hurry up and 2 min drill. Looking forward to his performance today but I think they ride saquon similar to the Texans game. I’m expecting close to 30 touches for him today.
From either the Giants or another team these are the games he absolutely has to win. Not be a passenger, but be the reason they won. Or at least one of the reasons they won. Go do it.
Yeah, there's another game next week, win or lose, but hopes of playing more than 17 games diminish a lot with a loss.
However, good performances down the stretch, even if the playoffs are slipping away, can still bolster a pay day future. I don't think DJ has ever looked really bad this year, and I don't expect today to be any different.

I hope that if Saquan looks more like he has for the past two weeks and less like he did earlier in the season, the coaches recognize it and give the bulk of the carry’s to Brieda and Brightwell.
in a way it's never been before. So, yes this is his biggest game to date. It's the first game he's ever played that had direct playoff implications. The team has also been told that December football is meaningful football, and that that is why they play the game.
I don't expect much different today. This team has won with Jones having 17 pass attempts and is one of the most run heavy in the league. I don't expect today to be any different or indicative of anything. Unless something like washingtons secondary totally jv because injury -- the giants and jones especially will be riding Barkley coattails. We have not seen anything different yet this season --why now?
inside today against that Washington front. Barkley needs to stop his tip toeing and get through a crack and break it outside. Going to be an very close game.
Go GMen!
After so many awful years, it is a pleasure to have a meaningful game
in December for a change. Love the 1pm start-time as well
And yes, the fortunes of Daniel Jones will also continue to play out in some form or fashion later today. A good game may not really signify much, but continuing to put up non-impactful performances almost certainly will.
Hopefully Jones shines and the good guys put up a "W".
I could see the giants losing this game and the the first Eagles game then beating Washington, the Colts and Vikings and building a little momentum at the end when players start coming back from injury. If the eagles have the conference wrapped up the last week maybe even winning that game.
But if the Giants can run the ball and play defense and they win the game 13-10 with Jones throwing 15 times for 120 yards? I don’t know that kind of win means much for Daniel Jones. He has already shown he can not lose a game where the running game is working and the defense is playing well. What everyone is waiting on is to see if Daniel Jones can be the star of the show when they need him most.
If the Giants can’t run the ball but Jones can make plays to get us to a win, this game can be huge for him. But it is time for him to show he can win when he isn’t along for the ride.
Agree. And I think Jones posting 300 “empty yards” with like 14 points scored doesn’t advance his case either.
Barkley’s hurt. The OL is ailing. Jones needs to overcome all these negatives and generate points. Not easy, for sure, but you don’t get paid $30 million for doing easy things.

The Eagles will play all out if the Giants need to win that game, regardless of where they sit.

That is exactly my point. I see posts on here about re-signing Jones if the Giants beat Washington and I am baffled by them. I don’t care what Jones’ stats look like at the end of the game. I want to see a guy make difficult plays to elevate the team. I don’t want to sift through more excuses of “the line didn’t protect well and the receivers didn’t get open, so obviously that isn’t fair to Jones and we should give him a huge contract.”
The guy needs to show the ability to be an above average starter in this league or the team needs to find someone who can be. No more giving him credit when the team wins and no blame when they lose completely absent of any individual analysis. This guy isn’t a rookie learning the NFL game.

It's on Jones. Washington will absolutely sell out to stop the run and their defensive line can easily do it. Our WRs might be trash but Jones needs to make something happen.
Because the doubts and attrition will keep coming if they lose and they have games against Vikes and Eagles still to come this month, in essence the bottom could fall out.
this is his biggest game and every game following will be the next biggest game. I'm optimistic DJ will do his part but some of the other especially the defense might not show up.

Like they did against Washington a few years ago when it meant the NFC East crown and the playoffs to Washington with the Giants getting in if Washington lost?
is determined will be the biggest game. And I hate to say this, because it's really gotten old, but the upcoming games, with this OL and cast of receivers will still not give us a clear view of Jones. Unfortunately for him, that's just the way it is, and a decision will have to be made.
I think Daboll and Kafka need to open up to allow defense more flexibi
Running super tight conservative games was OK early on but the defense is just as hobbled and are giving up big scores faster than Jones can land a TD.
And Slayton didn't practice this week?

I agree with this, particularly re: this game being no more vital than the next game with the playoffs still in the balance.
Don't get me wrong. Winning today helps in that it creates more distance between us and WC. But it doesn't seal anything yet.
And Jones is going to go put there today and win over Giants Nation. He is ready. As Phil Simms famously said, just win the game. Jones can and will go out and win this game for the Giants. And don't let one of those great Eagle recievers get hurt, because if that happens he is going to beat them next. My big worry is their recievers. Maybe Lady Luck will finally pay us back.
the best player on the Giants' O today. Better play calls at the end of both halves, Slayton hanging onto that long ball and James and Barkley not running into each other on 3rd down and he could have won this game, despite a lousy IOL

And it is also the biggest game of Head Coach Brian Daboll's career.

True, and they’ll both do a great job today.

I’d add Barkley too.
He's never been in this position before.

He could stink today and then be lights out the next 5. He could be great today and then lose play horrific later in a play and get in game.
Let is all play out imv. In the interim enjoy one or two Jones threads till the end of the season.
Go GMen!

not a good recipe for championship football
We'll let Sy break the tie :)
Cutest pig at the mud hole, frankly.
