Except the big passes they called to try and win the game but Slayton dropped. Actually watch the game before commenting.
They sat on the lead 20-13 and expected the Defense to be perfect . All the Aggressiveness and creativity from beginning of the season is gone
I disagree. I don’t think they sat on the lead. The offense was just flat out awful for the next 4 or 5 drives. The only time it showed a pulse, Fat Feliciano decided to be an asshole.
It's pretty much WCO with the RARE, OCCASIONAL deep ball. But it's just...weird.
It's like Daboll and Kafka don't trust his arm, but once in a while they'll draw up a play like they're coaching Allen or Mahomes.
We will never know what the playcall is vs what Jones may or may not change it to. This is a hard point to be critical on.
I'm talking about the playcalling, in general, this season. We've got to be last in big plays, right?
I wish I knew where to look that up. Maybe check Jones's passing plays over 20 and see where that would rank but even that isn't the whole story. I think you're probably right.
What I don't understand is if the defense is putting more people in the box to stop the run, then why aren't we throwing more to take advantage?? This offense seems like it can't get out of its own way in key situations!
RE: RE: RE: When I watch and don’t see much difference between Jones & Heinicke
not sure if injury or what but I don't have the same confidence in him I did at the beginning of the year. Most kickers can get the distance on 57 yarders.
He hit a 57 yarder two games ago.
That should never be automatic until they let robot legs on the field.
when is the last time one of our WRs made a play like that? It happens in every other game.
Slayton two weeks ago. Slayton on thanksgiving.
Slayton didn't score in either of those games. You are mistaking making good catching with making great plays. Maybe Slayton 3 weeks ago against the Texans when he ran after the catch.
Since then he's made plenty of shit drops too.
I like Slayton, but it doesn't mean I think that he is good enough to be depended on at any level.

RE: When I watch and don’t see much difference between Jones & Heinicke
Do you see much difference the the receiving corps?
Because that was the difference in the game today, that plus the Giants inability to run the ball in the 2nd half.
Performance from Daboll and the offensive staff today.
Week 1, I praised Daboll for playing to win. He did the exact opposite of that today. The offense was conservative all game- dink and dunk, playing not to turn the ball over, and keeping Washington in the game.
At the end of the first half- what the heck was that? The QB run on 3rd and 1 with no timeouts? Why not call a play that gives the team a shot to score a TD?
Also, the timeout they used in OT—horrible clock management. Washington had a 3rd and long, 30 seconds ran off the play clock, and then they decide to use a TO as Washington was lining up on a 3rd and long inside their own 10. By calling that Timeout when they did, the Giants guaranteed the best they could do was get the ball back with less than 30 seconds and no timeouts. Ended up being the difference as they only had time to set up a 58 yard field goal- which was clearly out of Gano’s range.
Lastly…Gano. The guy has been money but guys are making 58 yard field goals with ease in this day and age. The same guy who boots a 63 yard er against them and now he comes up 5 yards short. It wasn’t the elements- he didn’t strike the ball well

He got tackled at the one against the Cowboys on a great play, so semantics. He also had the best play on offense. That ball was either incomplete or picked if Slayton doesn’t battle and get to the inside of the two defenders.
RE: RE: RE: RE: just look at the Dotson TD against us
The second half O was....yikes. Give credit to the D. All the plays on the field and they still found a way to do its job. Down X, Jackson and then Williams in the second half.
Just one O drive in the second half might have been enough outside of the one where the D created the turnover.
They had the drive but Feliciano’s flex negated it.
is too inconsistent to retain IMO. He make plays, but has suspect hands, as demonstrated by the fact that he has the second highest drop rate in the NFL. The only reason he even gets so many looks is that no one else can get deep, and the rest of our receivers are subpar. Remember that the Giants would have cut Slayton before the season if he didn't take a pay cut. Hodgins is the only WR who should even come to camp next year. (I assume Wan'Dale will start on the PUP.)
make a really nice clean catch on it, and then lose the ball when he just is trying to tuck it into his stomach, and IMPORTANTLY the defender did not touch the ball at any stage?
I've heard of eye-and coordination problems but this was more like an eye-stomach coordination thing.
RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: just look at the Dotson TD against us
Horrendous tackling all day, except by Love, who was excellent again, along with Lawrence. That fourth and four desperation heave by Heinicke was a killer. It looked like Flott lost Samuel on the play.
Don't blame Gano on that 58 yard FG. It's cold and that's a long kick.
Didn't see enough from Barkley or Jones to justify keeping them frankly. Time is running out for both.
Agree with all of this.
Love was outstanding. Guy deserves serious Pro Bowl consideration.
Heinicke is beyond irritating to play. He pulls some stuff out of his ass.
That was indeed a difficult kick for Gano. I was thinking it was a 25% of < for him to make it...
I know Feleciano’s penalty cost us the win but I didn’t see it as a penalty.
He was flexing at Slayton not the Washington players.
No reason for a pivotal call to be made.
Refs should stay out of the way of the game not decide it.

Look, I like Slayton. I think he does make some really good plays. But it's not like I'm watching DeSean Jackson out there. He is good. But he also has the highest drop percentage in the NFL since he's been here.
RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: When I watch and don’t see much difference between Jones & Heinicke
Sucked. Horrendous coaching. Play calling was Horrendous. I can go on and on but anyone with a brain knows this was blown by Daboll. Clock management borders on kindergarten level. Sickening
What I don't understand is if the defense is putting more people in the box to stop the run, then why aren't we throwing more to take advantage?? This offense seems like it can't get out of its own way in key situations!
They don’t have the horses to throw the ball 50 times. I wouldn’t be surprised if they burn 3 picks in the draft on WRs. The staff is doing what they can with the roster they have.
Are the same exact high ceiling low floor players from play to play.
I see WAY more consistency out of Jones. The offense is so poor around him that plenty of his plays are called back by penalties(illegal man downfield, opi, holding), negated by drops, poor blocking, and cute playcalling. This team can't get out of its own way. Is Jones a HoFamer? No, but he was the only guy out there most of the time.

Fumble counts. It's a shit play. If he was fumbling all year like that I would probably feel the way you do about Jones. Because Slayton actually drops the ball at that rate...

Odell and a first or second rounder, plus an a high OL pick, and I'll be happy.
I said, the ultra conservative play calling is almost certainly because the coaches don't trust Jones, the OL, or our WRs. They are basically trying to win the game by running Barkley and Jones, getting long FGs from Gano, and hoping the defense can make enough stops.
The problem is that's not working anymore. But coaches are stubborn. The Giants have a winning record and for that reason alone likely won't change what they're doing, even though they should.
Until this team scores more than 20 ppg they're not ready to go anywhere. They score points at a remedial level.
This offense scores at a C+ rate. No one fears it. Success hinges on whether or not Barkley wakes up feeling good in the morning or not. There is no reason not to consider significant roster changes.
Answered when you could sense everyone was ready to turn on him like a wolfpack. It's still a bit of a Tua/Hurts situation. Give him quality receivers, Bellinger develops, more line help and I like his chances with a reasonable contract.
A yard or two it looked like. I'd say 5 just to be safe.
Ummm Slayton a week or so back on the long run where DJ got hit but connected on the short pass to Slayton and long run for the TD,

Very disappointing tie.
Do you see a difference in Jones WRs? Blocking? Running ability?
Nope. Jones is a much better QB than Heineke. Jones needs competent offensive line play and QUALITY RECIEVERS!!! Slayton is a no. 3, at most
Jones is a better talent than Heinecke, but Heinecke was under just as much if not more pressure today
It was more like 10 yards short really. - ( New Window )
hit bounced at the top of the N of the Giants logo so at least 5 yards.

And then going for the long FG would have been a tough call because you'd be giving the ball to Commanders at midfield with time left, if you missed.

The stupid cute play with James running into Barkley in OT…..unacceptable.
Feliciano didn’t really flex at the Commrads he was flexing at Slayton. But completely unnecessary. Unacceptable.
Slayton needs to make that catch plain and simple. Drops are unacceptable!
This team is just good enough to compete but bad enough to get in their own way.

Does the fumble not count? Or just the Slayton drop?
- The DJ fumble
- The 3 stooges 3rd and short play
- The Was 3rd and forever conversion.
We probably win if any of those go our way. But the reason the result hinged so largely on those plays is the ineptitude of this offense.
