I'm guessing they think they can get his production for less, or draft someone to get another piece on a rookie scale deal. It's a bad look. He's been probably their most successful draft pick, if he's flipped for a late 1st, it feels like it was all for nothing.
Outside of Brunson, this FO has really really really botched free agency. They've blocked playing time of their young players by signing vets who are now getting benched, who also didn't help this team win.
Basically no one wants our trash.
-Rose is washed.
-Cam will bring back nothing.
-Fournier has interest but we won't add assets
-Quickley has interest but looks more like a top 20 restricted pick or lumped in to take the above.

What a mess this FO has created.
I'm trying to forget everything I just read in that article.

There's really no rationalizing any of it. So brutal being a fan of this team.
Thibs will be here unless they completely tank.
I don't think Rose is going anywhere for at least this year so hopefully he can pull of some miracle trades after December 15th.
Problem is every smart GM knows he needs to move off Rose and Fournier, they are going to hold his feet to the fire.
Hasn’t the whole agent to GM thing been disproved?

I've seen real messes. This isn't one of those situations by any means.
The front office inherited a bad roster and they have turned it into a mediocre roster. They haven't mortgaged the future at all and they really don't have any deadly contracts despite some of you thinking otherwise, not to mention it's not like there is a player to be signed right now that we can't sign due to the cap
They have held serve. They haven't been great by any means and they haven't made the HR move but Brunson was a good one.
Boring to be sure. But not a mess. The mid to late 2000s were a mess.
and so Knicks that as this franchise finally places itself into rare air where they have financial room and picks and even some young chip/talents to trade, there is such little super star player movement and availability. We had ONE guy basically, Mitchell, and that fell through and he wasn't exactly the perfect (legendary) player to go all in on.
I hate to be negative but sometimes I just wonder if this franchise is just doomed to lose forever and ever. You can't even go back and use hindsight to get this team to perennial 58 win status without really digging and searching. Where was that move? Mitchell? We aint getting to elite status on that move, even paired with Brunson.
We never pick high enough. We never sign that perfect FA. We always just miss. Every other franchise I root for carries that good karma even during the worst of times. The Knicks don't.

Not someone who decides one day that Evan Fournier has gone from Starter to Shit, nothing in between.
I am still giving him until the deadline
