NFT: Rangers vs. Blues…hoping people still care…

ShockNRoll : 12/5/2022 10:28 am
This last month has been a very trying time to be a Rangers fan (of course operating from the sports fan perspective), but guys we still have 56 games to go!!! Things have spiraled out of control, these last 2 losses to Ottawa and Chicago were backbreakers, and it doesn’t get easier this week with St. Louis, Vegas, and @ Colorado. Regardless, the Rangers are only 3 points out of a playoff spot, so it’s not too late to get this turned around. Blues have a lot of issues too, also losers of 5 of their last 6. Mollie Walker just tweeted that Chytil will not skate today, Brodzinski has been called back up from Hartford. Whoever is in the lineup, just get the damn 2 points, please?
Hard to care right now
Greg from LI : 12/5/2022 10:29 am : link
They are playing horrendous hockey. It's embarrassing.
I care...
rsjem1979 : 12/5/2022 10:35 am : link
But it's more about being concerned at the direction of the franchise.

And with the Blues in town here's a good reminder that Pavel Buchnevich has 95 points in 91 games games in St. Louis, and his cap hit of $5.8M is less than they're spending on Goodrow and the Shattenkirk/Girardi buyouts.

This organization stinks.
Meh
Anakim : 12/5/2022 10:37 am : link
Fire Drury and Gallant
I don't care
pjcas18 : 12/5/2022 10:37 am : link
other than as a hockey fan, and I'm surprised with the 1st quarter of the season.

I think the Rangers gets this straightened out.

I still say some people are too comfortable, and not just sending Jones to Hartford comfortable.

Blais and a second rounder.

I'll never get over how bad that trade was.
Per the usual
Costy16 : 12/5/2022 10:48 am : link
Expect Buchnevich to score at least once, because any former Rangers player scores when playing against the Rangers.
I don't think I can bear to watch
NYerInMA : 12/5/2022 11:08 am : link
They look like they're going through the motions and don't really care.
It’s hard to look past the Buchnevich trade
ShockNRoll : 12/5/2022 11:17 am : link
It’s a tossup between this trade and the Miller/McDonagh trade to Tampa for worst trade in Rangers history, especially when you look at the lineup every day and see Jimmy Vesey playing at 1RW, where Kreider-Mika-Buch was one of the best lines in the league. I’m still convinced that Drury made that trade expecting to make a move for Eichel, nothing will ever convince me otherwise, because it just made no sense to trade Buchnevich in the summer when he most likely could have gotten a significantly better return at the deadline.

Vince tweeted out line combinations from the morning skate today, no real big surprises…

Kreider-Mika-Vesey
Panarin-Trocheck-Kravtsov
Lafreniere-Goodrow-Kakko
Blais-Brodzinski-Gauthier

I think Brodzinski could be a good addition, he brings some speed to a lineup that can’t seem to keep up with fast teams. Add Carpenter to the list of players I was excited to have who has been poor at best.

Glad to see Kravtsov in the lineup and Goodrow in the bottom six, if nothing else.
Glad to see Kravtsov getting top 6 time
ShockNRoll : 12/5/2022 1:22 pm : link
I still can’t imagine a world where Vesey is a better choice for the top line RW than Kakko. Not to say Kakko has set the world on fire with his offensive production, but he is certainly more of a threat than Vesey is.
Die hard fan here

I care. They better show some passion tonight.

Good call.

And in one goal, Pavel Buchnevich has already eclipsed the number of goals Sammy Blais scored while with the Rangers.

Chris Drury, ladies and gentlemen
Both Rangers goals

Kakko can't buy a goal...

Finally put the two kids with Mika. Hop he keeps them together
As ugly a win
Stufftherun : 12/5/2022 9:45 pm : link
as you’ll see but boy did they need it.

Let’s hope they find their game on the road or at the very least can take some steps forward. They’re still a long way off.

It's a nice win, but Binnington was awful tonight
Great to get the 2 points
ShockNRoll : 12/6/2022 7:59 am : link
And we’re in no position to be looking for style points here, so I’m just happy they got the win today. In my opinion, Brodzinski showed he belongs full time on this team, and should be in the lineup over the likes of Vesey and Carpenter. The play he made backchecking last night when K’Andre broke his stick and he flew back into the defensive zone to take the puck away, that is what the Rangers need more of from their forwards. Give me Jonny as 4C, and when Chytil gets back, move Goodrow to 3RW, keep Kakko and Kravtsov in the top 6 at RW. It was also nice to see Trouba and Miller have a very good game last night. First 2 periods were pond hockey, but the Rangers played a really strong 3rd period, that I’m hoping will carry over into Vegas tomorrow night.
What has happened to Bennington???
Rick in Dallas : 12/6/2022 8:45 am : link
He was awful last night.
Why can’t they play like the third period for 60 minutes??
I am at the point that the kids need to play more minutes.
Gallant benching Kreider in the second period was awesome. It lit a fire 🔥 in Kreider in the third
absolutely still care
bigbluehoya : 12/6/2022 8:55 am : link
nice to get 2 points. Loved the way the 4th line played. They also had some snarl in their game, even Panarin.

They don't need a lot of fisticuffs and post-whistle stuff to be successful, but the top lines finishing checks and playing with some level of grit is a must.

Laf and Lindgren need to stay out of the box.

Still plenty of room to improve, but beggars aren't choosers and right now we are beggars.
Nice to get the win
Costy16 : 12/6/2022 9:04 am : link
Two big games out west at Vegas and the Avs, let's see how they follow this up.

Avs are the NHL version of the Giants from the past few weeks. MacKinnon got hurt last night, and they also have Helm, Landeskog, Nichushkin, Rodrigues, Byram, Manson, Lehkonen all out right now. Dryden Hunt played on their 3rd line last night. Vegas is looking insanely good, Logan Thompson might not only be the Calder winner, but he could be in the Vezina conversation. They went into Boston who hadn’t lost at home all year and beat them without Eichel and Pietrangelo last night. Rangers need to bring that 3rd period game for 60 minutes and get another road win against a good team, one area they’ve been pretty good this year with wins @ Dallas, LA, Detroit, Minnesota (although Minnesota was really struggling to start the year).
Las Vegas really is magical

Laf, Kakko and Chytil all scored in the same game!!!

I don't get to catch a lot of regular season Rangers games but I'm sure glad I caught this one.
