VERY risky, but it only takes one team...
Anakim : 12/5/2022 3:38 pm : link
And I do think he offers more than Malik Willis did.

People may not like to hear it, but the Josh Allen comparisons coming out of Wyoming are accurate and we know who drafted and coached Josh Allen in the pros...
I think some of these "student athletes" are over the student part.

They'd rather be developed in the NFL than in a college program, even an SEC-level college program.

The problem is (at least in my view) that the NFL isn't set up like the NBA to develop young guys. On a 12-man active NBA roster, a developmental player can be pretty far down the bench. In the NFL, pretty much everybody on the 53 has to be able to play. The NBA has the G League; the NFL has... NCAA football? The USFL?

If you're Anthony Richardson and you're not even ready to be a backup in 2023-24, somebody has to carry you on the 53 and make you inactive every week until you're at least ready to be the #2. That's a precious roster spot. Big ask of a team.

Yea it’s smart to replace one of our five best players if he wants to come back. NOT!!!!!!

How much are you paying him, Carl? And for how long?

Jones is a free agent.

I agree from a physical skills standpoint may be the best in the draft. I liked how he climbed in the pocket some also, but man he isn't ready. One more year would have been so good for him.

I agree. Right now, AR is a supremely gifted NFL QB prospect who is going to need a lot of development.

But in the right hands...

You just miss some things I would like. Playing in bigger games, more opportunities to evaluate high pressure situations, etc.

But if they evaluation is on you can get around that.

Agreed but the risk is also a lot higher if a team is already willing to take you day 1

I am less concerned with other teams evaluation and more concerned with our staffs. I am not one to like others influencing decisions. It should be based on their evaluation whatever that is and take necessary measures accordingly imv.
I don't think we'll be in position to draft him
Jerry in_DC : 12/5/2022 4:14 pm : link
But I hope we do. If Daboll thinks he can get the best out of Richardson, that is what I want.

If we had a different staff - say Judge - I would absolutely not want us to draft him.
I am very intrigued by Anthony Richardson

Could be a better version of Jalen Hurts.
So it's safe to say 3 to 4 QBs go top 10
larryflower37 : 12/5/2022 5:32 pm : link
Shroud, Young, Levis, and Richardson

One of them could be in play for a trade up especially if the Giants don't make the playoffs.
IMO I hope we build other positions (WR,G,CB,MLB,Etc) first before we draft a QB.

DJ Uiagalelei is expected to enter the transfer portal. I wonder what program will take a chance on him resurrecting his career. Link - ( New Window )

A former 5 star recruit, DJ had two good games in relief of T Law 2 years ago. Since then he's had some good games but by and large he's not been a very good QB. I don't know who's going to make him a starter. This will be interesting to watch.
Richardson strikes me as 2023's version of Malik Willis.
BlackLight : 12/5/2022 6:35 pm : link
but without the excuse of having played Liberty's schedule for the reason why he can't read a defense or complete more than half his passes.

So I don't think he lasts to the third round, but find a prop showing odds that he's still on the board at 25 and hammer that shit.

He looked damn impressive in that 2020 game vs. ND in South Bend. He was alright last season & this season...talk about a roller coaster. The dude is all over the map.

Find past QBs with final collegiate year stats comparable to Josh Allen's, and chart their pro careers. Then we can make an informed comparison.

Levis has not played well as of late. The potential is there and teams will drool over the measurables, but I think he may be closer to 32 than he is to the top-10 at this point. He may even dip into the second round.
I would draft him
TommyWiseau : 12/7/2022 7:33 pm : link
And give Jones a 3 year deal. Gives him time to develop and we can be competitive with Jones

Why waste the money on Jones at that point? Go with Taylor, and Taylor can mentor AR while BD/MK start refining his game...
Just draft him and have him play
Jerry in_DC : 12/7/2022 8:51 pm : link
In the Giants 2022 offense for a year with more QB running. Simple throws, almost no decision making. Richardson would still make more mistakes than Jones, but he'd also make more big plays.

Too many tools not to go round one - IMV. I believe he's a lock right now.

Too your point, Levis killed Kentucky in the redzone this year. There are no excuses for some of his decisions.

However, he was beat to a pulp this year and showed some real toughness and reliability by only missing one game.
