Ohio WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba declares for the draft

Semipro Lineman : 12/5/2022 2:57 pm
So he won't be playing in any bowl games as he will focus on his injury rehab ahead of the combine instead

This guy

is a stud... sucks he had Hammy issues all year but at least it wasn't like an ACL tear. going to be a high draft pick.
Hasn’t played almost all season

Kind of wary of hammy issues.
the hammy issues may be the only thing that pushes him into nyg range
Eric on Li : 12/5/2022 3:11 pm : link
he's got to be on the short list of guys we will be hoping fall to us over the next 4.5 months.
Terrific prospect...

from WR U. Hopefully, he can get 100% healthy and not have the hamstring be a recurring problem.
Like everyone, I overrate the games I watch
Jerry in_DC : 12/5/2022 3:16 pm : link
But that Rose Bowl last year....wow
He’ll be mocked in the 20s for now but
Metnut : 12/5/2022 3:21 pm : link
can’t see him not going top 10 on draft day. A true game changer.
Yeah, right now on PFN's simulator
81_Great_Dane : 12/5/2022 3:32 pm : link
he's available more often than not when the Giants are on the clock in the first. I'm skeptical.
He's a shorter, slot-only WR with just okay speed and injury issues.
Anakim : 12/5/2022 3:35 pm : link
I'm going to have other WRs rated higher than him
My opinion
Tony in Tampa : 12/5/2022 3:37 pm : link
for him to crack the top 10, he needs to blow folks away on his combine and pro day performance.

If he gets drafted over Quentin Johnston or even Jordan Addison, I would love to know why. But hey, I wouldn't hate it. I just hope Schoen pounces on Johnston if given the opportunity.

He is 6’1. Taller than AJ Brown…

I realize he lined up in the slot a lot (it was the best way to get him on the field as a young WR on a team with Olave and Wilson). But he will be able to play as an outside option in the NFL. This isn’t a guy who has the size/catch radius/release limitations that traditionally silo guys to the ‘slot WR only’ role in the NFL.

I’m weary of a guy who missed an entire year with hammy issues. But this is a top 10 talent at a position of desperate need. If he’s there when the Giants pick, it would seem like a no-brainer. We’ll see as the draft process progresses..,,
This kid will be high on my list
Jay on the Island : 12/5/2022 3:44 pm : link
if he is still on the board.

He's listed at 6'1, but I think those numbers are skewed. He did not look that tall when he was on the field last year. I'm very curious to see where he'll measure because he does not look big at all. And AJ Brown is very thick. He's almost built like a RB - 6'1, 225 lbs. Smith-Njigba is about 25 pounds+ lighter.
A WR

With hamstring issues? He'll fit right in.

The listed height/weight measurements in college are notoriously generous. Then we find out the truth at the combine.

But I don't think the difference will matter to his draft stock.

Didn't the Giants just go through 2 years oh hammy issues with Toney? Us fan don't want another round of that!
No more injured receivers
Paulie Walnuts : 12/5/2022 5:31 pm : link
To be picked
He was the best WR on Ohio State
RCPhoenix : 12/5/2022 5:59 pm : link
And the other two went in the first round last year.

Of course, everyone will worry about Toney 2.0 but he needs to be evaluated separately

JSN was outstanding in 2021.

That was a helluva trio for Ohio State in 2021: JSN, Garrett Wilson and Chris Olave.
Top 5 player for me

But will probably go 10-20 range.
