and expecting different results". Cashman has had his moments of brilliance, his WTF moments and everything in between. Not sure whats going on but this feels like treading water. Other teams are signing players. We're signing a gm who cant get us to a world series. Insanity.
to tell us how we almost signed Judge and had good offers into 6 starting pitchers but the prices were just not sensible. We'll have Hicks and Donaldson much improved and we still have our oar in the water on some good players. Ughhh.
it seemed pretty clear Cash would be back too, but 4 years? Maybe Hal figured since the Hicks contract is working out so well, Cash should still be around to have the honor of picking up the team option in 2026.
that plenty of baseball teams knocked but didn't win titles for YEARS only to finally break through and they didn't fire anyone? KC ROyals of the late 70s early 80s come to mind.
Fine, whatever. But why the fuck does he deserve a four year extension?
Probably because the Yanks are one of the better and deeper organizations year after year.
But they don't win the WS, so there is that. Doesn't hide their yearly 95+ win potential or above average farm system though.
You are correct. He's gotten the team to the playoffs in 21 of his 25 years as GM. That's historic. That said, it's not a major accomplishment just to reach the playoffs in this day and age.

Can we also admit that since 2009, when the League MVP was bequeathed to Cashman, the following teams have appeared in the WS: Giants (3x), Red Sox (2x), Astros (4x), Dodgers (3x), Mets, Phillies, the aforementioned Kansas City (2x), Cubs, Cleveland, Braves, Tigers, Rays, Nationals, Cardinals, Rangers (2x).
And yet Cash of the now apparently small market Yankees was awarded with another 4 years. What's this year's theory of team building going to be?
I saw this and logged in just to see the meltdown lol
I'd bet cashman's extension has something to do with the amount of money landing in hal's pocket and has zero connection to world series participation. Until and unless the lack of postseason success effects the bottom line it will be irrelevant come annual job evaluation time.
doing the same thing over and over and thinks the results will be different In the business world he would have been fired for not accomplishing the companies goal. “Multiple Championships “
cares more about the bottom line than winning and complaining about Cashman is useless.
So let me take a different tactic, what do some of the Cashman fans here think he should do? How do we grade his potential moves? Sort of rhetorical I guess, after all for Cashman if thing’s don’t work out it’s due to the NY pressure and we are busting at the seams with middling prospects so return’s don’t matter.
Judge better not take his sweet old time otherwise he’s going to return to a bargain basement team (in performance, not necessarily price.)
The millions in revenue the Yanks clear during the season is what makes him sleep well at night.
Cashman must have incriminating photos of Hal, I’ve never seen a GM rewarded for accomplishing as little as Cashman has over the past 13 years.
The Yankees now accept mediocrity as the status quo. They are going to become unwatchable. Absolutely horrible roster management and farm development under Cashman coupled with the insanity of their reliance on analytics.

Never quite saw continuous 90+ to 95/100 win seasons as mediocre.
Not a Cashman fan either, but hyperbole doesn't prove anything.

They're going to be good enough to get to the playoffs and then get beat by teams that are more complete than they are, like the Astros.
Yankees need entire philosophical changes to their organizational strategy. That includes roster construction, farm development, free agency, all of it.
only the Pope has better job security than this guy
I believe Cashman has been about as good as he can be. All he can do is put the Yankees in a position to win and he's done that every year. It's the players fault if they can't get it done.
🤡🤡🤡

We've gotten two new popes since Cashman became GM.
