Nobody has been talking about Portugal doing much in this tournament - and SUI is a really good team
After today's performance against an opponent that knew them well and had beaten them before, look out. Let's see if Morocco has enough juice for them. I personally think Morocco shot their wad today.
Here are the quarterfinal matchups along w/ days n' times:

Hope so, I have a lot of family and friends who are stoked for POR…sorry your team was eliminated, Group G was tough and SUI made it through, they’ll be strong in the Euro.

I have three teams: Egypt (not in it), USA (eliminated), and Switzerland (shit happens, lol). Rooting for Morocco to somehow pull through, but I know what's coming with Portugal and most likely France after that if they pull off a minor miracle against a very dangerous Portugal side now.
Final 4 is gonna be Argentina, Brazil, France, and Portugal IMO. Out of the 4 underdogs left (Croatia, Holland, Morocco, and England), the one that stands the best chance of pulling off an upset IMO is Holland.

I think semis will be Holland-Brazil/France-Portugal
Final: Brazil-France
France becomes a back to back World Cup champion.
I think the final will be between two Portuguese-speaking teams...
Portugal is not beating the French (ssuming that matchup takes place in the semis). I'd wager a hefty amount on that being the case as well if I was a betting man.

I'm not a betting man either but Portugal looked great today against Switzerland who are no pushovers, esp. defensively. No knock on France who are great too, just who's in the best form right now. No rooting interest BTW, just enjoying the tournament. Morocco-Spain was intense.
We'll have a chance to see who's right soon enough.
First Portugal's gonna have to get through a motivated Morocco team playing another home game and France will have to avoid any pitfalls against a more than capable English team. I still fully expect France to be playing in the final against either Brazil or Argentina at the end.

Morocco is indeed motivated and it will be another home game for them, but I think all the emotion of the Spain game plus 120 minutes may leave them a little drained for the QF. The way Portugal carved up Switzerland, I can't see Morocco keeping a clean sheet against them. (I could be wrong, of course.). I agree with you in favoring France over England, though.
but what makes the World Cup great is that the strongest do not always win. On paper, Argentina, Spain, Germany and Belgium should have done better than they showed.
I would not count out Argentina to beat the Dutch and England to beat France or Croatia to upset Brazil. France is incredible and if you consider what they are missing it is hard to imagine how much better they could be. Yet, England has the talent, if their manager can get out of the way, to pull off a one-game shocker. In fact it would not be that much of a shock if you consider the attacking players available and if Southgate will actually play his best and if the English defense can hold up--both of which are big "ifs".
As for Brazil there is an incredible amount of talent but some of it is very old talent. While Croatia are not young they are savy and they know how to extend these games into extra time. At that point and with the shootout, who knows.
I am rooting like hell for Morocco, but this is the one game I think it's hard to pick against the favorite. Tired and spent after so many exciting wins, and playing against a Portugal team that has seemingly freed itself from its legend and inserted talented youth into the lineup, it is hard to imagine Morocco and their wonderful fans will have enough. Hope that I am wrong.

Love the respect shown to England who, unlike France, are actually unbeaten.
My take: England and France are fairly equal. France have some class players, but they can be lethargic. I reckon the winner of this tie will dispatch Portugal in the semis.
Seriously, I've gotten used to turning it on every morning. Have to wait until Friday now.
I'm enjoying this Cup. Despite all the stink of doing it in Qatar (deservedly), the presentation has been pretty good, and the games have been entertaining.

Agree about England, they’ve looked strong and they’re deep.
Portugal is suddenly a completely different team. Until yesterday opponents prepared for an offense funneled through CR7, but now they have mere days to figure out how to deal with this new Portuguese striking hydra.

Yes agree about Qatar, the crowds are phenomenal, the fields are in great condition, and the games have been terrific.

They've done a good job. There's a lot of Western propaganda out there. Don't believe the hype. The tournament has been fun and safe.
Bad nught for tiki-taka
CR7 not starting

ABSOLUTELY !!!! My Asturias paisano fucked this cup up royally.
Welp, see ya in four... Actually two for the Euros
Just got word from my cuz in Spain that Luis Enrique will leave his post as the teams coach. Marcelino is most likely next in line.
Ronaldo really pissed Santos off with his post-game comments against South Korea.

Would like to see Switzerland send Ronaldo packing. I used to be a fan of Ronaldo, but he seems to be a major dick.
How so? Are you referring to that exchange with the Japanese player while he was being substituted off the field?
POR 1-0
POR 2-0
Plenty of time left
go figure, CR7 sits and Portugal starts striking like Brazil

That should be interesting. Portugal and really move the ball and Morocco has a very disciplined defense. Looks like it could be a very good game.
Well - they all look good.

Prolly a sound take, their side played ESP like it was the WC Semis or Final, while POR cruised. Lotta respect for Santos.
Who foresaw these outcomes for the Ibericos? Not I.
