Big gamble. Certainly has pitched well for SF, but a fly ball pitcher in YS always makes me a bit nervous and, while he stayed healthy for them, he will turn 30 and has not been terribly durable for his career.
The fact they’ve been in contact every day supposedly but no move has been made makes me think they have a him a low ball offer and will get him if nobody outbids but won’t pay higher than they want for him.
I like him but whether or not he’ll stay healthy and perform the way he’s expected for at least half of his upcoming contract is a legit question in my mind. If he’s healthy, he’s a legit #2 behind Cole and gives them a nasty 1-3 with Nestor. My only concern aside from long term health is him pitching in Yankee Stadium and how he would handle that. I think if they can get him for about 5 years and 135 total, it’s worth the risk. If it’s more like six years and 170, I’d probably prefer they pass.
but the injury history is enough there where it's easy to justify passing on a 5 or 6 year deal that someone will probably be bold enough to give him.
I'd love him on a $120/4 or something like that. Or something that gives both sides an out, like a $150/5 that pays 40/40/30/25/25, with him having an opt-out after 2 and the team and opt-out after 3 with a $10M buyout (which would make it $110M over 3 years for him in the downside case).

My goodness, I hope Judge gets done today.
I like him. They won't sign him - $$$.

That's Cash for you, signing injury prone pitchers.

Mutual interest per Martino just now
I don't like him on a five year deal, but that's what he'll
most likely get on the open market?
