I think the interior offensive line is the main reason for the conservative playcalling and overall game strategy. When every single drop back pass from under center results in either a pressure or sacks (especially this last stretch of games), there is not much a coach can do but play conservatively. There is only so many times you can take a negative play because they kill the drive.
For better or worse, until the interior line gets much better at pass protection, we are stuck with every pass being relatively short and needing play action, shotgun, or rpo for pass protection.
For those who watch film play-by-play, what do you see? I haven't seen an under center non-play-action pass not result in a sack or heavy pressure for a while.
Find a real Center. It’s time.
Im on the fence with Jones but its not a stretch to say a better Oline wouldnt make him look better.
He’s probably not back at pre injury level but he looked good in his start at center. This past week at LG was not good
He’s at best a bridge to a Center. A great achiever and a nice story but too many overstate his status.
Need to upgrade and invest in the position. It’s time.

Jones may not be top 10 but how the heck can u expect anything out of him with crap IOL and 3rd string wrs?
we think bellinger a godsend but he really is just an average TE that looks good because everyone else stinks

Rookie injuries is like a new Giants tradition.
Gates was not great at guard. He has struggled with wash front in the past (they are studs) but his height is a disadvantage in those matchups as well
Felatio was fine at center In this game tho I would love to see him replaced by gates.
Certainly IOL explains SOME of the thought process end of 1st half. Because of wasted time outs a sack would cost the giants any points. The James play was a terrible spot. And as mentioned glowinski was getting beaten fast.
That said, it's hard to argue that the interior OL isn't killing the team. It's crazy they've been this incompetent for this long.
Even bad OLs hold up some of the time. The Giants OL seems to cave in every single time they try a dropback throw. Immediately. Hard to believe a group of NFL players being coached for months can't do better than that, but it's been going on for 10 years.
Find a real Center. It’s time.
Amen to this! And I have zero problem taking one in first round if the value is there and then worry about WR on Day 2.
I've said it before I'll say it again why can we not try Phillips at right guard now that Neal is back. How much worse could he be than Glow?
Phillips is actually our third best O lineman. Which may not be great but better than anyone else.
Play Ezeudu at LG. Gates or FA center
The issue is the receivers. They aren’t winning. They aren’t trusted to win. If you call plays that rely on them separating from man coverage, you are going to put the offense in a bad position.
Slayton is a good #3, Hodgins a decent #4/#5 guy. Richie James a back of the roster guy. Golladay, Sills and Johnson are less than NFL caliber. You cannot design and execute an NFL passing attack with a revolving door of Jags and practice squad elevations at WR and TE.
The IOL not being great just adds to this problem- now we have these shitty receivers who have even less time to get open.
A young OL, give AT his $$ when due, and 3 solid years with the same OL.
They fixed the OTs (barring injury).
Now. Broken record. Now they have to fix the interior. Until they do that, you could put Mahommes back there and still not succeed.
Plus, they need 3 WRs who are better than Slayton. Where one of them isn't 30, coming off 2 ACLs, and an attention-seeking knob.
Felatio was fine
No ones gonna react to this?
