Feels like it was always NYY and that SFG was the lever to extract the most humanly possible. Especially if reports are true that SFG was willing to go slightly higher.
Beyond his cut on Judge, Odle probably earned a good deal of new business in the last 48.
A lot of Yankee fans said some stuff there they may want to take back lol
Meh, a lot of it was true...perhaps a little bit of spite. No worse than a game thread.
BTW, wish it was 8 years, but 9 is a hell of a lot better than 10. By then, even Judge may be sick of it. Maintaining that body will not be easy, as dedicated as he is...
I thought Cashman was inept and couldn’t get it done? I thought someone with supposed inside knowledge of Judge’s circle that Judge didn’t like Cashman? I thought Hal was a cheapskate? I thought the Yankees were just content to just merely be good and collect money from the fans? And other blah blah blah bullshit.

LMFAO!
Glad it got done. Now go get some pitching.
I am the one with the information that Judge does not like Cashman and he obviously doesn't. I made it clear that I had no idea where he was going. So, you sound unhinged.

Lol, try not to trip on that backpedal.
Also Cashman could have gotten this done much cheaper last year
and now we have a much more risky contract. So, not sure what to tell you friend, but it is great that he is staying, but the cost to the Yankees is not insignificant in terms of getting other pieces to make this a championship team.
Much more convenient to the Yankees' organizational setup than the Giants'. No state income tax. The winter weather in Florida is better than California, and players are on the road during summertime anyway.
All more pertinent than the storyline of Judge having grown up in California.

If the Mets can afford two dudes over $40m, the Yankees an afford one

Really? We can surmise he wanted better than Trout money. Trout was at $36 mill AAV +/-. So $38 mill was what he was looking for...
All it would have done is reduce the drama, maybe save $15 to $18 mill over the life of the contract - you know, chump change as per BBI.
Aaron Judge turned down higher offers elsewhere because he wanted to remain a Yankee, per @jonmorosi
Judge is a Yankee. Probably will be named captain soon. He never needed every last nickel. He just wanted the Yanks to pony up and show respect, and they did. Like sing him would have been catastrophic. For those who remember 1982 and Reggie's return, opening day vs the Giants would have made that look like a celebration party. It might have been a blow that took the organization a long time to return from.

Almost like all of that ‘Judge wants out’ stuff was manufactured BS, posturing, drama, and negotiating. You couldnt put a mic in front of Judge all season into which he wouldnt spout ‘I want to be a Yankee for life.’
The Yankees kind of had to do it. You do wonder about his health long-term. As a Red Sox fan, I get sh-t from friends about the Mookie Betts trade, and since they didn't get much back in that trade (Verdugo, an average player), it's kind of similar.
Chaim Bloom and the Sox seem to be against these gigantic deals. I'm kind of against them, but the Sox are gonna want to keep Devers and that will be a crazy deal. We'll see what happens. But these deals north of $300M are really crazy. The Yankees will be paying for this for a long time, but maybe Judge can lead them back to the promised land. We'll see.
The Yankees problem is scoring runs against top pitching in the playoffs because of their lack of being able to put the ball in play and take advantage of situational hitting. No team is going to hit four or five bombs against the league's top pitchers in the playoffs. This team's K rate with no out and a runner on second is terrible, especially in the playoffs. The over-emphasis on analytics (always try to hit a home run) ruined Sanchez and Torres. I suspect we'll see more of that in the future (Volpe?).
Give me eight guys who all hit .280 with 20 home runs or more and the Yankees prospects of getting past Houston improve immensely.

He is inept and a serial bungler. Just because he has the resources of one of the wealthiest organizations in sports at his disposal and a hands off owner doesn't make him any good. He got bent over the sawhorse and had it shoved up his ass but good. Good, he had it coming. Now watch the jackass work the bargain basement for everything else.
I nailed this one from the beginning. I said 9-350, but close enough.

That is not the Bungler's pet theory. He is three outcome baseball.
Great job by Judge squeezing out every penny from the Yankees.
But until Judges says so, I will remain skeptical...
Now let’s find someone willing to take Correa, Scherzer, Verlander type deals.
They don't know his physical condition? Was he skydiving after the season ended? [j/k]
Same here…happy he looks even worse.
Nothing will top Bowden's screw up from a few years ago

Official

Well Arson Judge is not a bad consolation prize for the Giants... Gonna be a heck of a match up opening day

Seems the market for Rodon is smaller than I thought it would be. Thought he would have been long gone by now.

The Yankees better be all over him then. The need a #2/#3 type starter

Severino and Nestor aren't #2/#3 material???

Can you count one Severino ti complete a full season uninjured?
