Guard Mark Glowinski
Q: Do you believe the pressure in these kind of games is different than throughout the season? Did you feel that with the team last year in that situation?
A: I wouldn't say that. I think it's just more of us not taking anybody lightly, making sure that you're in the moment, making sure you're executing, making sure that it goes back down to fundamentals and technique, making sure that you want it more. Sometimes things slip between your fingers, and you wish you had them back, but new team, new game, let's build off of it.
Q: Any doubt in your mind that this team won't get the same obstacles or roadblocks kind of that you guys did in that spot last year?
A: I don't know. I'm saying that we have to find that out. All I can do is refresh everybody, use all the time that I've had in the past for situations of wins and losses to remind guys that it's here and right now. We need to execute and make sure that we give everything we can.
Q: How well do you know their head coach?
A: He's been within the building. I would see him a lot more during camp time, if he can help us a little bit with coaching and stuff from the past wise. It's not like he was a big influence on anything, maybe years back when he was playing and stuff like that. Having the ability to have, (Offensive line coach) Howard Mudd in the past that I worked with when I was in Seattle because he was living there at the time, I kind of know (head coach) Jeff (Saturday) more through Mudd than I know with just the conversations of having with him. I know kind of the mentality that he has.
Q: Does an offensive lineman like seeing an offensive lineman get a head coaching job?
A: Yeah, it's definitely a little bit different than you typically see. For them they say it's the best thing that they have it at the time being for their team and what they needed to get their team going. We'll see what happens.
Q: Hasn't exactly worked out so great for them, has it?
A: It depends on how you look at it. You can tell their defense is playing really hard, offense is working through things right now. All you can do is get the group and try to bring the locker room together.
Q: They have shown the ability to get the quarterback, haven't they? Especially the defensive ends?
A: Yeah. That's why we have to make sure that we're playing as one, be a unit, and when it comes down to fundamentals and technique, making sure that we're in proper places, make sure we're staying ahead of the chains so that we're not in situations where there are big pass downs.
