I would. Seems like the perfect guy to cover Devonta Smith man. Same size and speed. I imagine our game plan could be opposite from our plan against Minnesota, heavy blitz, with more man concepts.
I know Wink likes to mix things up but Flott only played like 4 plays last game. He did make one great play but I dont see him going from 4 plays to starter. He doesnt have the resume like other players Wink has promoted to starter. I think Wink loves the aggressiveness of Holmes too much especially against the Eagles who will use Hurts to run. Flott is not a good tackler. Flott may see more time though.
Wink relied more heavily on zone principles last week so Flott didn't see much time.
Hurts isn't good when pressured so I would expect to see a lot more blitzing especially when Hurts has a shoulder at less than 100% percent. Make him make hard throws, make him pull the ball down and run and open himself to hitting.
the notion of starter/non-starter isn’t the same that it used to be. Even if Flott doesn’t officially start he still may see plenty of time for the role you described.
As we’ve seen, so many guys get rotated in that “starter” doesn’t really apply to some positions.
That if you play him on every down in the slot you try to force him to make a play 1v1 vs a RB or TE....he's liability there.
I think right now, dime looks in obvious passing situations is where he's gonna live until he bulks up and can take on a block or ball carrier in space.
I love the kids potential for the future, but just think of some of the plays Darnay blew up at the LOS last week - Flott doesn't make those.
In fairness, Flott was a freshman backup in 2019. And I don't know whether his primary responsibility in 2020 was Smith or Metchie. (Waddle was out.) Maybe it was Stingley getting torched.
All 165lbs of him? Decent player but I don't think he ever got over 175 lbs in his career. Made many "business decisions" while with Washington. He sure as hell never took on Brandon Jacobs. Some guys are just "wirey". I think Flott does have some toughness. I don't think he shied away from contact when he had to make the tackle when he was out there. Adore Jackson ain't huge either but he makes some good hits for his size.
I watched some tape of the last Eagles game showing Flott

Suddenly the whole D backfield is locked and loaded, and just at the right time.

2020: 8 receptions 231 yards 3TDs

The second is pretty brutal. Smith just flat beats him, and Flott never closes on him after the catch.
Smith's third TD was a beautiful catch over Stingley.
