Colin Cowherd
@ColinCowherd
No point arguing with fan bases that have mediocre QBs. Always an excuse. Watched four QBs yesterday and three were crazy talented (two even played hurt). Best wishes going forward to the other fan base.
However, nobody but Giants fans ever ranked Eli at the level of Mahomes, Lawrence and Hurts. Even during his peak years Eli was often ranked in that 10-15 range. Maybe for a few years 5-10.
Giants still won 2 SBs with him. I think you can win with DJ because of his running ability. But they need to make the OL and DL much better.
Why do some people look at every QB in a vacuum. Hurts had wide open WRs, all day to throw, and the running game was gashing the Giants. Show me one QB that wouldn't look good there.
There's a nearly infinite number of better alternatives to mainstream, traditional sports media. I can not fathom why anyone would listen to any of those guys anymore. It's bad for your sports fan brain.
It's the McDonalds of sports journalism. It's accessible and in a pinch there's even a comforting nostalgia to it. But next thing you know there's shit flying out of your ass like a firehouse. Only difference with talk radio is which end the shit comes out.

We all love Eli for what he brought us in two Super Bowls. But most BBIers would be surprised what fans of other franchises thought of Eli(in my experience with them). The vast majority thought him a better than average QB at best. I tried to argue a bit, but to them he made questionable decisions and threw average passes.
to jump off the bandwagon as quickly as they jumped on. They are entertainers- take them for that next time they heap praise on some player because they will shovel dirt on them just as quickly.

Yes running game made all the difference. Giants got beat in the trenches.

I was going to say, did Hurts really impress on Saturday night?
I'm not saying he even had a chance - he really didn't have do anything. I thought he was rather pedestrian.
This is the same guy who pretended Trevor Lawrence had done some amazing thing against the Titans 3 Saturdays ago when he was in fact GOD awful. Trevor Lawrence lost to Chad Henne and a one legged Pat Mahomes yesterday. And it’s not as if he played well. He didn’t.
These guys are infinitely more invested in saying “I was right” than accurately describing what happened.

if you switch the starting QBs in yesterday's game, the end result is absolutely the same. Is the spread bigger or smaller? Who knows, but the difference is not meaningful. I get everybody is allowed their own opinion and this is not a proveable statement, but I don't think a reasonable person can disagree with it. By the way the spread is so big between the teams that this is probably true at every other position as well.
If you swap out players, DJ would have the highest rating and Hurts the lowest.
Football is indeed the ultimate team sport.
The funny thing last night about Hurts was - on pressure plays he looked completely ineffective (including a fumble). His only good throw under pressure as I remember was a drop by Devonta Smith on an out route on a corner blitz. Otherwise, he had pitch and catch throws the entire evening.
I think Hurts and DJ are a notch below in talent level of guys that are generally called "elite".
But I think they are franchise QBs you can build around and win with - Hurts is proving that already. DJ showed it to a lesser extent as well given the talent level around him.
especially the idiots on ESPN aren’t sharing their opinion like some buddy sitting next to you at a sports bar. They are looking to drive engagement and the ”best” way to do that isn’t to say something insightful or nice; it’s to piss you off.
25 years later I still wonder why ppl care what “experts” like Colin Cowherd say.
from the "talking heads" standpoint, if Jones isn't lights out fan-bleeping- tastic EVERY minute of EVERY game, he is mediocre dog shit. Gets them clicks and pats on the back for being so "brilliant". Whatever!

Now Hurts is on the level of Mahomes? And he's better than Eli?
You're kidding, right?
Let's see how Hurts does with pressure in his face, getting pounded into the turf and throwing to receivers that are blanketed.
Fuck Hurts.
Gotta wonder how much better Jones’ stats would look
if his receives actually catch the long passes that literally fall into their hands, or if Barkley doesn’t dance around like a ballerina, or if Neal wasn’t a turnstile, or if Daboll doesn’t go for it on 4th and 8 at midfield the first quarter. But none of that matters, right?
Jones may not be a HOFer (and we don’t need him to be) but he is, far and away, the best offensive player on this team.

LOL - only on BBI can Hurts and Lawrence, both of which have never done a thing in the NFL, be put ahead of Eli

Mahomes: 77
Lawrence: 54+
Jones: 11+
Henne: 89+ (limited play)

Lawrence vs the Eagles
14 points scored
174 pass yards, 2 TDs, INT, 4 fumbles (all lost)
Feel like that *may* play into what happened yesterday. But why use context?

Anyway, I thought Cowherd was a DJ fan.
There were 5 QBRs recorded yesterday. So, I posted the five.
Note the parenthetical note "(limited play)" for Henne. Hope that adds color to your world.

This^^^. So is Purdy elite now too?

The Eagles are #1 in pass defense.
Why?
Because no team in the NFL can rush the passer like they can, combined with their coverage skills.
In other words, they make a lot of QBs look pretty shaky.
Do you honestly think the Eagles were concerned with Hodgins, James, and Slayton?
