Not to turn suffering into a competition but just like losses to the Commanders for those of us in the beltway or dropping games to the Cowboys for Texas transplants, its fair to say this carries an extra punch for those of us in Eagles territory. I live in Mare of Eastowns backyard. Been down here 16 years. Still not used to the accent. Decent folks. Except for that one tiny detail...
Talk about the perfect storm for disappointment. On one side the Eagles are looking vulnerable. Drop a few games, their incredible fortune with health had a hiccup. On the other side our best players are playing their best games in the biggest games. I hated...*hated*...the comparisons to the 2007 team when I first heard them but let down my guard and went along for the ride. I loved the mirrors to the 08 season and truly believed we were gonna get one back. I bought in. I have a rule about not betting on the Giants but if I didn't I'd have put a grand on them last night. I was that confident. I don't typically get strong feelings about games but I do trust my intuition. Last time I felt like that was Tennessee.
Foolish I'm sure. I got sucked into the fun. God we were starved for some. By the end of our first drive last night I knew the score. Far from a doom and gloomer, I knew the spontaneous ball of lead in the pit of my stomach shouldn't be ignored. Philly was a much better team and there was no magical night ahead. No payback. No "one more week!". Just the realization that in a few short minutes my phone would start buzzing with endless texts from friends, family, coworkers. When it did following Bradberry's pick I left it, grabbed the keys, and asked Meryl Reese to torture me while I drove around Delaware County.
Halfway through Sunday and I'm every bit as aggravated as I was last night at 11:30. It's gonna be a long week. Football season is over for me. Won't be watching anymore games. Praying SF can go on a run.

Last night games antics by their HC....has pushed the Eagles ahead of the Cowboys as most hated.
Started watching local news more since the pandemic but can easily avoid that.

I don't think I could watch with my friends. Love them like brothers but we're all a little hot blooded. I know they wouldn't be able to resist busting my chops and I probably wouldn't take it well in the moment. Feel silly admitting that but I dunno, something about this season got to me with them. I'm just tired of taking shit from them. Stringing together a few wins against them is among my life goal items. See Europe, save a million dollars, 5 in a row vs the Philly Scumfucks. I can dream...

Had this exact conversation with a friend when I told him I'd take the Cowboys going to the Superbowl over the Eagles. He was shocked. Couldn't believe it. I told him the reason Eagles fans think Cowboys fans are the biggest assholes in the room is because they can't pick themselves.

I was born in the Lehigh Valley and lived there until age 14 (left in 1993). Love PA but Philly fans are trashy. Middle school was hell with those dumbass fans. They deserve all of the misery they’ve suffered over the years and then some.
The only fanbase that compares is Boston/NE. Also a cool area with a shit fanbase.
We have been completely owned by the eagles for the last two decades. It actually feels odd to me that it doesn’t get more national media attention. It’s not been much of a rivalry for quite some time. When was the last time we won a game of consequence? 2000 season playoff game? What’s our record in the last 30 games - something like 7-23. It’s the worst.

She is not a football fan but will root for local teams to do well. Others in the family are die hard Eagle fans. She would say "if your team is no longer playing, why can't you root for the local team?" She doesn't understand deep rooted hatred for a team. I cannot turn it off.
I would almost rather watch with the Neanderthal fans they're famous for.
