Is it just me or are the Cowboys the self-righteous Evangelists of the NFL?
Year in, year out, the Cowboys consistently talk as if it's their birthright to be in the Super Bowl. Then they lose and finger blame.
I know this has been the Cowboy's mantra since the '90s (being America's team supposedly) but recently, the language they've used has gone to new heights.
Are they really this delusional? They had a great team this year, don't get me wrong, but it was clear as the day they're still undisciplined under McCarthy. Dak is also probably not the answer. And this is the NFL – nothing is guaranteed.
I just don't get it. It's like they want to speak a championship into existence; that God decided they are the rightful heirs to the eternal throne of glory and the rest of them are secular nincompoops.
The psychology and philosophy behind this thinking shows me a team that lacks substance. I feel like I'm listening to different versions of Lebron bitch and moan. And Jerry is their leader.
Take whatever you will from that!
I don't envy them Jerry Jones as GM. That's the Peter Principle in action. But he's been a very good owner for that organization. Nobody would do a that clown-show art of the Jones family.
On the field, they're a very good team, but overrated because of the Dallas halo.
Jerry has established a country club atmosphere for the players and he undermines the head coach by design as the principal decision maker on just about everything.
Team continually fails at situational football and their attention to detail sucks. Dan Quinn 2.0 almost doesn't belong there because he's actually buttoned-down. He won't be staying long.

Exactly. They do a good job at putting together a talented roster but they're always undone by sloppy and undisciplined play when it matters most.

Well, maybe God likes comedies.
They are a good team and played really tough yesterday. But can they get the top 3 seeds first before declaring they are some juggernaut?
How many powerhouse Packer teams have just failed to get it done?
If the Cowboys had their current roster and Josh Allen, sure I'd say they could talk the talk and have huge expectations.
But they don't.
Prescott is another good QB that might not be the guy for prime time. That win against Seattle a few years ago was probably his best playoff win, more so than last week's.
Lots of disrespect to better teams. Really annoying.
At the end of the day, it feels like there's zero culpability for their play. Like them losing is an act against the almighty and something that should not have happened because they're the COWBOYS... it just gets to a point where you have to sit there and think that maybe they should embrace that underdog spirit instead of this annual bullshit routine.
A good example is McCarthy acting surprised and insulted they are -4 dogs to the 49ers in San Francisco and now this Dak tweet which pretty much blames him and expunges the rest of the team ("if he didn't do this, we obviously would've won").
It's all horse shit and bewildering to me. Alright, rant over.

**THIS**
That has been the problem with Jerry since he bought the team. Jimmy Johnson was able to hold the players accountable, and for 1 year afterwards the players policed themselves. It has been consistent and pervasive with that organization ever since, with a brief respite during the Parcells' years.
Campo, Phillips, Garrett, and now McCarthy cannot overcome an owner that wants to be buddies with the players.
Well put.
Which is actually too bad, because they are a good team , and since Stephen took personnel control, they’ve drafted well.
In Marketing 101, they say, SELL THE SIZZLE, NOT THE STEAK.
Unfortunately for them, the cook and the key ingredient is not good. But media can’t help keeping the Americas Team crap they created alive, in hopes…
Dallas gets the highest ratings generating the most money. That's bottom line.
In the 27 years since Dallas last won the SB they have had 8 losing seasons. Four of those they lost their starting QB. In the other 19 years they have stayed relevant by staying competitive. Dallas hasn't bottomed out since the early 2000's when they had three consecutive 5-11 seasons. Every other year they either challenged for the playoffs or made the playoffs. Dallas is always in the mix.
Their roster is viewed by many different entities as top 10 in the NFL or better. This means that if Dallas makes the playoffs they are considered a contender for winning it all. It doesn't make it wrong to think Dallas could have won this year when they were one of the top teams all year.
With the coaching staff and players making comments, they just came off a season ending loss and are upset because the pieces were in place but the team could get it done. Dallas doesn't play to win the division or playoff games. Dallas plays to win championships. That's the standard.
In their 62 years of existence, Dallas has succeeded 5 times and failed 57. That's what anyone in the organization is held up to by the fanbase. You will fail more than you will succeed.
The other possibility is that this might've been the worst OL the Cowboys had in his career.
Tyron Smith was injured early in the year, plus he's getting a little long in the tooth. He only played 6 games this year, that includes playoffs. They had old-ass Jason Peters making starts at times at LT. Zack Martin is getting up there in age as well. They lost their starting RT Terrence Steele in week 14 for the season (and probably for part of next year as well) with a torn ACL.
It was a line that just wasn't the wall that it's been for the majority of Dak's career. But keep in mind, Dak had a really strong 2021, so a rebound season could easily come next year. I don't think anyone can say with confidence that he's not a very good QB anymore. I just think it was a tough season for him.
"Upset about the Giants but watching the Cowboys season crumble."
Like room, dak makes mistakes in big spots.

I said it in another thread, they have two very good cooridinators, but I truly think McCarthy is the weak link there. While I'd have loved to have either of their two starting WR's, Lamb is exceptional and Gallup didn't come up as big as I thought he could in that game. Dak needs to keep his head better under pressure and I'm not sure who the QB coach is there but maybe they need a change there.
