never to have traded away our whole draft class like that. Still don't think the CMC trade was smart. If he wins them the SB then OK. Otherwise looks like a bad deal to me.

If you lose a minority candidate, you get two compensatory picks, one in each of the next two drafts. But if you lose 2 minority candidates, you only get three total picks, one in each of the next three. The pick in this year's draft is the third pick the Niners are getting for those two guys combined.

Undefeated since he's started every game.

One of the very best trades in franchise history, SB win or not.

I am more sure of that than any of the game picks this coming weekend.

1) Too much invested and not much to be regained in trade
2) Still unknown quantity - still could be a very good QB
3) Purdy unproven - Garoppolo 2017, Kaepernick 2012 were franchise QB level play as well.
4) Injury risks - still need backup when only 1 in 6 Shanahan seasons had a full 16+ game starter.

There's not even a guarantee Purdy is the starter next year. Pretty sure they'll have a competition unless Purdy wins the Super Bowl.

managed to stay on the 49ers this entire season through it all, Trey Lance would have to do unimaginable things to not be on the roster this September.
