I know Hartenstein went straight up and didn't bring his hands down, it definitely wasn't a foul but when doesn't a star get that call.

Mitchell was trying to have an MSG moment and the Knicks finally stepped up on their home floor and said no. Cavs aren’t a whole lot better than us right now, honestly. Maybe if Mobley makes a leap of some kind they’ll get to that top tier.

Donovan Mitchell is 6'1".

Three times denied going to the hoop in the last 1:30.

Good player; not worth six years of the draft, in picks and swaps, which is what Ainge wanted.
and i will say this kudos to Thibs

he changed his rotation a little bit so Brunson cna get minutes with the seocnd unit and take some pressure off of Rj and Quick a little bit

I dont think Sims makes that play that Hartenstein makes

Mitchell’s fg% at the rim is 70%. That’s a very high number for a guard.

Some basketball writer said in an interview, "In the NBA, you are who you can guard." I don't think Obi can really guard anyone but power forwards. He hasn't meshed well with Randle when they play together and it's hard to take Randle out for long stretches when he's playing as well as he has been, even with the flaws in his game.

Obi's in a bad situation and would be better off on another team, as much as it pains me to say so.

I really hate to say this
nygiants16 : 1/25/2023 7:48 am : link
and i dont want to move him because i think he can be really good, but i think its time to move Obi for a wing that can play the 10 minutes behind Randle and the 10 minutes behind Rj..

Problem for Obi he has been pgeonholed into Randle's back up and cant play another position ao his minutes are now limited.

For Obi's sake and probably to improve the team, he should be traded
I’m not trading either

They had the best chance they’re ever gonna get to trade for a star. They blew it. What exactly has Rose and Co. ever done to make you think they can actually pull off a deal for a star? Sure, they want one. They just aren’t willing to give up what it’s gonna take to get one. It’s not happening

It has been pretty widely reported that the Knicks offered a package at least on par with what Cleveland did, and which most analysts I’ve seen/heard actually felt was better than what Utah ended up taking.

I guess you can argue that Rose should have offered even more, but kudos to him for not overpaying because Ainge wanted to take a lesser deal out of spite.
and i have no problem killing rose
nygiants16 : 1/25/2023 8:27 am : link
he IS hesitant to make deals it seems BUT i cant kill him for the Utah deal, even Donovan Mitchell alluded to Ainge not making a deal with NY..

There will be other players that become available and honestly if Randle and Brunson are going to play like all stars, you may not need that superstar, they may jist need another all star/upgrade around Brunson and Randle..
and maybe the Cavs go on a big winning streak soon
nygiants16 : 1/25/2023 8:29 am : link
but are the Cavs really that much improved? they are 3 games better than the Knicks currently..

The apparent hang up was protected versus unprotected picks. You simply cannot let a deal fall through for a star because of something as ridiculous as that. A star like Mitchell gets this team at or near the top teams in the East. If those picks end up being high enough to be protected the entire thing is a failure anyways. You think they would be picking mid to late 20’s for the next few years, they aren’t getting protected anyways

Its his skillset, you have a coach that wants to play big so Turner adds a player who brings the same thing defensively as Mitch with much better offensive skillset..

When a team tries to beat you by going small, eith Turner you can kill them for it because he can take advantage in the paint, that Mitch cant..

Turner also adds a threst from the outside, so in close games when Randle or Brunson tries to get into the paint the other teams center cant just sit in the paint..

it adds another dimension to this team and 100% makes them better

You are much, much, much higher on Turner than I am, lol. I fully understand his skill set but between his unavailability at times and the fact he’s a UFA after this season I just don’t see why giving up assets for him is a good idea at all. He’s going to want a huge contract. But regardless of what I think, if they are that infatuated with him sign him in the offseason. Use the assets elsewhere
For its not Turner specifically
nygiants16 : 1/25/2023 9:46 am : link
its a center eith that type of skillset, so if its Turner i am good with it, but any center with that skillset will help..

Its part of the reason why i was excited about Hartenstein when they signed him

I would do an RJ for OG trade. Don’t really see a fit otherwise. But I still don’t think Rose has the balls to do that or a big trade for that matter.

Really nice win last night. Randle takes a lot of shit including from me, but he was a force last night against 2 good defensive bigs.
here's a super ridiculous
Enzo : 1/25/2023 10:35 am : link
3 team trade I just made up which actually works under the cap:
Knicks get: OG and John Collins
Hawks get: Siakam and RJ
Raptors get: Trae Young and Julius Randle

feel free to tear it apart! lol.
One thing you have to remember with Rj
nygiants16 : 1/25/2023 10:38 am : link
there is a poisen pill in his contract this year, so if you trade him, only 10 million counts as outgoing salary but i believe the incoming salary to a new team is around 27 million..so you need a team with cap space to take an extra contract from a team outgoing..

Very hard to trade Rj right now..

You don't want Bob Myers. He is a granola, Birkenstock Berkeley Hills dude. He would never cut it in NY.

Plus, his drafting has been fairly putrid, Remember Steph and Clay were already there when he became GM.

He did draft Draymond in the second and Jordan Poole in the late first. But the rest of his drafting is subpar imo. He lucked out that Durant wanted to come. Lucky rather than good--that's Myers.

Myers is a very, very good GM. Is he the best in the league? Maybe, maybe not but the Knicks wouldn’t exactly be casting aside Pat Riley in order to hire him either.
