probably also low on years for dex and low on $ for gates, james. i think both get more than minimum.
1. I don’t think giants let love walk, he is a captain and a very good player
2. We need more upgrading at WR. I love flowers but he is slight framed and I’m not really sure he is gonna be a dog in the nfl. I agree though he does have some tyreek hill to his game and if schoen thinks he can be that I’m in. Personally I think giants are going to make a trade here.

any of those guys is costing pick #25+ and i doubt jeudy is made available.
i'd probably do that for higgins, moore, or aiyuk though. and we know moore was their main target at the deadline.
hopkins is also tempting since the cost of acquisition would presumably be lower.

I’d 100% make another call on dj moore.
Panthers are rebuilding and a new coach may want more picks to shape the team his way.
I’d def revisit this if I was schoen.
Hopkins would be solid too except he is slightly older so I prefer one of the younger targets

Huff is an RFA--while they technically have control, they will have to tender him at 1st (5 mil) or 2nd (3 mil) as he was a UDFA. Original round tender would mean a team could sign him and Jets would have to match offer monetarily. With what they have invested at the positon, not sure he'd be in long-term plans.
Simmons has 2 years left on control--1 at 7 mil and then will need 5th year option. He definitely has not lived up to draft pedigree and while he has played better, I would not put it past a new regime to favor draft assets more than an off-ball linebacker in their current situation of both cap and Kyler starting year on PUP.
James signed a minimum contract this year and was the third TE on Cleveland.
Gates played well in split time but never usurped either guard or center on a team that has struggled interiorly.
Lastly addressing Love decision most of you were against--he has been a good development, a leader, and dependable. I'd like to keep him but how he was speaking sounded like he isn't necessarily coming back. He plays a position that is more easily replaceable than most on defense. I don't think we can keep both him and McKinney, and if we were to choose between both, it would be McKinney every time.

I don't think we are a receiver away from competing. Schoen said he doesn't think a team is ever a player away in his conference. While I do like Moore and Aiyuk, I think that we have far too much work to do on the defensive side of the ball. Buffalo and Philadelphia were in better shape when they went all in on a receiver.

dont see arizona trading simmons after he broke out as a legitimate defensive weapon this year. or jets trading huff for basically nothing.

jets will give huff 2nd round tender at a minimum.
if gates was going to sign for the minimum they would have extended him before he returned if for no other reason than to lower his cap hit last year. not usurping veterans making 3m and 7m respectively doesn't mean anything. he returned from a brutal injury, won a starting spot over bredeson even if they rotated, and the iol played it's best in that last bunch of games after his return. (and the james i meant was richie, i also dont see him settling for minimum again).
its hard to predict what a new regime does in AZ but Simmons is probably one of the more valuable assets on that roster. OTC valued his performance higher than any other returning player on their D last year.

I disagree highly. Part of reason we cannot compete with Philly is because we have no WRs who get separation. No wr that draws coverage. Teams can stack the box and focus on taking away running attack.
Our defense needs work sure but we cannot trot out the garbage we did at wr in 23. Winning is important and part of winning is putting up points. We are going to need a #1 sooner than later. Wr is a vital position in todays game

Oh Richie, yes that was an oversight by me--I do agree he probably deserves more than min. I think he'd make around 2-2.5 mil which isn't so different than vet min which is 1.3?
I still disagree on Gates being much more than vet min which should be 1.3 mil next year. He didn't win a starting spot, they rotated exactly 50/50. Our success and lack-thereof was more aligned with Bredeson's return if you look back at it, though I do think that Gates should have been playing over Feliciano.
Either way, with 20ish mil remaining I don't think it's a huge issue. Gates is a guy who would take a hometown discount and Richie James has had both opportunity and success with a staff that didn't give up on him.
Jets should put a 2nd round tender on Huff-but with what they have at the position I don't think he's in their long-term plans. Thinking of kicking the tires on a a guy who would be our #3 vs their #5 passrusher was the premise especially if they are going to be big spenders at the QB position and need cheaper rookie deals to fill out the roster.
PFF gives Simmons a grade of 67.4, OTC states he has been one of the biggest defensive assets on one of the worst defenses in the NFL. Deion Jones, a former pro bowl LB, was traded for a difference of one round between the 6th and 7th. Mack Wilson was traded for a rotational DLmen on an expiring contract. He is a freak, but he is still an off-ball linebacker on a soon expiring contract for a team that will be without their franchise QB for at least a quarter of the season. You can recognize its feasible, right?

Philly ran for 500 yards on us. We won all but one game by one score. We went 1-5-1 in division. There is a ton of context here that even despite great coaching, our team exceeded expectations. Schoen, our GM, and obvious facts disagree with you. If he felt that way he would have traded for one at the deadline.
Our team was very dependent upon street FA's. Next year we will have returned a mostly injured rookie class and then another ontop of it. A much younger team--a much DIFFERENT team. WR is one of the most abundant assets in the drafts because of the way the college game is being played.
Jones will be $35 mill AAV. hey may back end, so possible it costs $27 mill vs the cap.
I also think Jones is going to get a deal with an average salary of closer to $35 Mil.
I haven’t looked into mock drafts or potential trades or free agents yet.
One thing to keep in mind, Ezudu and Brederson could be moved to Center although I would love for Gates to be RE-signed and moved back to his best position .
Dalton Risner (UFA)
Isaac Seumalo (UFA)
Nate Davis (UFA)
Shaq Mason (possible cap casualty)
I don't get this thought process many have on BBI.
Same BBI person:
DJ is a top 10 QB - a lot teams would love to have DJ
Offseason plan - DJ signs a $27 AAV with a two year team commitment but could be up to 4 years.

He drafted a top OC with the MI kid which IMO is the beiggest need. To me you can exchange Gates or Feliciano, whichever is cheaper. But Ezeudu coming back will help that int OL.

I never said DJ is a top 10 QB, I also said the base was 27 mil with incentives to 32 mil--the cap is charged 32 and we receive a credit if the incentives are not met. A couple weeks ago all of you were wanting to sign him for 2 years 25 mil like Jameis Winston.
Spotrac values him at 26 mil and we didn't pick his 5th year at 22 mil. I agree the season has changed some opinions, and most of all Schoen's, but if the Tag is 31 mil, thats probably what his APY is going to hit maximum not minimum.
This Daniel Jones is elite take that has come after two games against horrid defenses is purely media driven. Truthfully he is somewhere between 12-20 and without any accolades to his name. Where is the leverage? He's had 4 coordinators in 4 years and now that he has had some success you truly think he would want to turn down a fair opportunity with Daboll? Just because there is no middle ground QB contracts present in the NFL doesn't mean there won't be one.
I don’t think you’re correct—if so we tag him and trade him. I don’t see the issue that your posing. He isn’t in a tier of quarterback to command that % of cap because not only has he not produced that way but he cannot supplement a deficient roster enough. We had limited success with only one win in division and only had two wins over a team above .500. He’s proved he’s our quarterback for the short term and that’s about it.
I don’t think it’s in Jones’s best interest to get tagged. If he doesn’t produce with more weapons it kind of proves he is who he is. A player that plays well within his means—which when he was drafted and before the bad coaching was to make good decisions, live within the short to intermediate, and supplement with legs. That kind of player doesn’t get a long term contract which is equally risky for him because a franchise tag comes with no guaranteed money past a year.
I’m curious to think what you think he will get because you haven’t stated it. You keep throwing out 27 mil is delusional and as if it’s the number i said. incentive laden contract total worth 32 annually. Do you not expect there to be incentives on it? That would be disastrous.
I’ve seen people at least make an argument for more money—pointing to the Wentz, Tannehill, Ryan contracts. All of which were contracts handed out years ago when those players had accolades of pro bowls, were the respective faces of their franchises. Not really comparable as Jones doesn’t have individual accolades and he only of recent could be argued as the face of the franchise.
