It was my freshman year of college, I did not want to watch the game in the lounge with dozens of people. fortunately I had a friend on my floor who had a TV in his room so I watched the game in there with him and two other guys.
I was nervous too. I'd have preferred the Giants play the Browns in the Super Bowl, as the game in November was tough. The Giants would have lost were it not for George Martin's incredible INT runback. .
I don't remember. 19 years old, Sophomore in college. Might have been in my apartment with my roommates or in the dorm next door with a bunch or people I could not pick out of a police lineup now. 1990 I remember, as I lived in Buffalo. Was at 2007, and 2011 was with my sons. But 1986 draws a blank.
We had a house full and my dad and uncles had been season ticket holders for years. They hadn’t seen a Championship since the 50’s. It was great sharing one with them and then another in 90.
Sadly they’re all passed now but I got to share the next couple with my own kids and their friends. My family will bleed blue forever.
not a everyone was back on campus, so i invited this girl who i was friends with over, so we're pounding beers and i'm thinking maybe something might happen, but i want to watch the game so i didnt want to make a move yet. Well she stands up, covers her mouth and then pukes all over my Phil Simms poster on my wall. Needless to say i watched the 4th Q alone.
When I was 5-6 and started watching football a friend was a Miami Dolphin fan so I told her I was a Dolphin fan. She explained we were again Giant fans. So that was that. . That was 1971.
So after suffering through some of the WORST football in NFL history we finally get to the Super Bowl. As we were kicking their asses she asked me didn't I want to see good close game. I told her no. I wanted a blow out. Then . Said The 2nd Super Bowl they would go to could be good close game. So I was the reason we won wide right. You are all welcome
God I miss her. Thanks 56. Greet memory.
PS my dad could never watch more than 5 minutes as the Giants gave him to much agita he said lol
That year was magical. I was a young Captain in the Air Force stationed in Missouri as a missile launch officer. My buddy back in CT had season tickets that year and I flew back for some key games. The first one in Dallas when Joe Morris held out, the Denver game, the second Cowboys game and I traveled to Minnesota for that 4th & 17 thriller. I was able to get to one playoff game when we dismantled SF and we were in the corner of the endzone where LT ran back the INT. We even made the NYG highlight film that year. Wonderful memories
As well as the others they played in. I don't think I'd be very social during the games.
The first one, even though I knew they were a very good team I expected something to go wrong as it usually did for the Giants.
I was 10 years old and living in Richmond, VA. Back then, you never got to see NYG on TV all that often. My dad had a big SB party and it was awesome. I've been a Giants fan living in VA ever since.
I watched it with 2 friends, affectionately known as the Fatman (not FMIC) and Fish in the Fatcave in the suburbs of Philthy. Both were former eagle fans. The Fatman (RIP) had become a Raiders fan, while Fish had become a big redskins fan. They annoyed the crap out of me during the whole game; made it difficult to enjoy.
These days, the only person I'll watch Giants games with is my 15 yo son (who btw, turned down an invitation to watch the Giants - Vikes playoff game with friends, so he could watch with his old man).
Was in college at the time and still on break.
Had a party with friends and family at the house. Got a keg, 6ft sandwich, trays of eggplant parm, sausage/peeprs/onins, ziti etc..... what a awesome day that was. Had a huge banner flying in front of the house and remeber the snow falling that night.
Had a picture of my Grandfather (who passed in '78) on the TV set. If it was not for his passion of Giants football which he instilled into me as a young kid I would not have been a fan. Also enjoyed the game with my Dad who passed in 1988. it was a very emotional and special day.
I was a little tot in a small one bedroom apartment in Brooklyn, (I live in Eagle country now). It was the first game I can ever recall watching and the defining moment in my life that I can point to as the exact moment I became a Giant fan.
I remember jumping up and down on my parents bed (a pull out sofa in the living room) watching on a rinky-dink small tv set. For some reason, I specifically remember Otis Anderson scoring as the “big play of the game”.
Out of curiosity I just looked up the game on Wikipedia and see he had 2 carries for a yard and a TD…. In what appeared to be garbage time. Funny how our brains write their own storylines!
I was with a few of my friends. We were huge boxing fans and would get together for football and the fights. PPV didn't exist at the time, they were closed circuit broadcasts. You'd have to find a bar or some other outlet televising the fight.
Me too, I was 12, remember it well. My Mom made a big dinner, my brother and I sat on the couch with our Dad under a big Giants blanket.
I still recall my Dad (who saw his first game at the Polo Grounds) getting and making several calls after with fellow long time Giants fan friends that were almost tearful with happiness
Who remembers the gigantic snow storm on Thursday dumping about 18 inches? Cost me my flight and had to scramble to get there. [/quote]
I go to LA, but barely, because of the storm! Quite a chase to get rebooked after my Friday flight was cancelled out of Albany. I ended up flying out of NYC Saturday; back in the days when flights were made via the telephone, etc.
I was ready to give up, but I got the right person on the phone early Saturday, and she got me a flight with a very, very tight connection in Chicago. I ran to the 2nd flight and got on the plane to LA as the door was closing at the gate.
Sat in the corner of the end zone where George Martin sacked Elway just before the end of the half for a safety.
My (now deceased) sister was director of communication for CBS sports at the time and got me the ticket, gratis.
I remember sitting there at the Rose Bowl (on benches with numbers for your seat on them, no individual seats, at least where I sat), thinking "my god, the Giants are going to win the SB."
They had been so bad during my childhood, it seemed impossible!
We rented a Winnebago with a few guys, never got tickets to get in. However there were a lot of people in the parking lot with big TV watching, sort of a walk around bar
As I always did. And yes, I definitely remember the snow, huge flakes floating by the window as we watched the game. The VHS tape of the game, which we watched many, many times, had a crawl along the bottom throughout the game with weather updates. January 1987 was glorious for me - I got to see the Giants become champions and missed a whole lot of school from that snowstorm.
I watched with a few friends is someone's basement
Fun story: At the time in 1987 I was working part time for a limo company and did airport pick-ups and drop-offs. The day after SB XXI, I had a pick up at LGA. Park the limo, go inside to the gate and I see Giant fans everywhere waiting too. I look up and notice the flight is from Pasadena! The plane door opens and out comes a hundred or so rabid Giants fans that attended the game. The terminal was going nuts with all the cheering and celebrating. I hated pick-ups but that was the most fun one ever!
spent the week in and around Hollywood…ran into a bunch of Giants at Universal Studios…all I remember are Tony Galbreath and Eric Dorsey.. was offered $2000 a piece for our tickets by a Broncos fan..fat chance…
I expected the Giants to crush the Broncos as they had the Niners and Redskins. The first half was much closer than I anticipated.
The crushing arrived in the third quarter, though :)
You know how prevalent nit-picking is on here, well here was mine: I was pissed we missed the Extra Point which would have made it 40 and appear to be an even bigger rout..😎
I w as about to turn 25. I was stationed in lonely and isolated Dahlgren, VA going to AEGIS SPY/1A school. No one I knew was a Giants fan. As I had no TV in my very small barracks room, I trudged over to the enlisted club where they had a big screen TV..projector, actually. I called home to talk to my dad on the payphone several times during the game, which I watched with like three other guys, all pretty disinterested. Drank a lot of beer, too. Couldn't figure out what to do afterwards. It felt to me like we still had another game to play...like winning it wasn't the end. Very strange feeling, all day, as it was as if nobody on the base cared about the game at all. And I had no one to share it with, lol.
He was in one of those pools at work where there was a 10x10 grid and you got randomly assigned a square. One axis was the Giants score, one was the Broncos, and if the last numbers of the score matched your square, you won.
Dad had 0, 0. He would have won if the final score was 40-20.

We have gone to so many Dallas/Giant games together.
Starting with flights out....cancelation everywhere due to weather, not us...straight in.
Stayed at a buddies in Newport Beach.
A rugby Picked up game that I starred in with the LA Rugby club.
Met not one but 2 beautiful ladies for dates.
Got me and 4 of companions into the Super Bowl for free.....u believable story!
a bit of an adventure once inside that seperated all of us.....but ended up in the only Denver section.
Obvious great game!!!
Invited 5 beautiful Denver fans back to "tailgate"....
It was magical....

Good times.

I was one of the first of us that bought a house in the suburbs.
I remember that the cable tv went out for a minute or two during the game, but other than that it was a blast.
One of the best days of my life. 7 year buildup to that game from 'The Fumble' was incredible.
It was a dramatic change for the Giants' image in general and that of Simms and Parcells in particular.

I recall catching a smoke outside at halftime nervous that they were down.

I was alone locked in my room
