Saquon Barkley is a finalist for the Associated Press Comeback Player of the Year award. His competition: RB Christian McCaffrey (49ers) and QB Geno Smith (Seahawks).
I hate the criteria for comeback player of the year.
Apparently. The other two were included by mistake.
I hope so. Siriani has as loaded a team as there's been in recent memory. I'd love to see him with our roster(not really). Campbell and Pete Carroll (as much as I don't like him) are more deserving than those other two. You could argue Tomlin as well.
Giants HC Brian Daboll
inherited a 4-13 team,(22-59 in the last 5 years no team was worse!) A team with the worst record in the NFL over the prior five years (who never had a winning record of any kind during any of those seasons), a team with a bottom-five QB, bottom-four cap space and top-10 most snaps that needed to be replaced.
49ers HC Kyle Shanahan
Loaded team, winning with 3rd string QB
Eagles HC Nick Sirianni
Loaded team
Bills HC Sean McDermott
Loaded team
Jaguars HC Doug Pederson
took over a bad roster, but had Trevor Lawrence, added Christian Kirk, Zay Jones, Brandon Scherff, Evan Engram, Foyesade Oluokun, Folorunso Fatukasi, Darious Williams, Arden Key, Xavier Crawford with a $229.5 million spending spree.

I like SB .... but what Geno did was unique .... normally QBs do not have a resurgence like he did.

Yeah Daboll squeezed blood from a stone with this team, and is by far the most impressive for getting the results he did comparatively. That said I’m sure the AP will select Sirianni or someone else instead. Doesn’t really matter, and doesn’t take away from the remarkable job Daboll did in year one. Going to be really hard to too the job he did this year next year.
Wasn't good last year. He didn't miss due to significant injury.
Gates deserves it way more than he does.
Barkley was still recovering/rehabing the knee last year, thats why they played him. Everyone knew it was a 2 yr recovery because of the significant injury he had. You can look it up, I'm too lazy, but there is report after report. He basically played at 50% last season.
I think Campbell was snubbed. betting lines had the lions at 6 wins (we were at 7.5). The talent was viewed as bottom tier with Goff considered washed up, a couple late round wrs, a slow back, and another that's always injured. They started off 1-6, jettisoned their TE and then went on an 8-2 run with one of the league's most exciting offenses. I would have booted McDermott from the list for him
Makes no sense. How can he be a "comeback player" when he sucked when he previously started?
Isn't that the point? Resurrected his career, played really well, led a team to the playoffs, perceived as a career backup after failing previously as a starter.

Led his team to the most wins in that Franchise right?
Got them to a Superbowl.
Turned Jalen Hurts into an MVP favorite (Before he got Hurt)
And out coached Daboll 3 times!

Dabs should win. If he doesn't, Pederson should. None of the other 3 should be in contention.
I agree, I think its a dead heat between the two. Oh, and screw the Eagles coach. I could coach that team, plus he's an ass
Why are yall penalizing the coaches with good players?
I could see if the Eagles just go out and score on Hail Mary's every play. But they are actually very well coached. They led the league in a lot of situational stats.
Ask yourself, what are they good at...
The answer is "shit, everything"
I just can't give it to Daboll.
1-4-1 in division!! Why yall ignoring that
And not looking prepared to play the Eagles in the playoffs!!
Going for it on 4th and 8
Putting your best corner as a punt returner
A couple questionable drives before halftime in some games

And what exactly is Geno coming back from? He had a career year but that’s not exactly the definition of “comeback”.

Gates should win it over all of them.

Coming back from the bench lol
Gates deserves it way more than he does.
Not a bad point, even over Saquon, who played last season.
Can’t get a read on coach of the year but I have trouble seeing Daboll not winning it.

Exactly. You have to have been there to come back.

Then what did he come back from? Return to?
