I didn't realize until this morning this was on TNT.
Cuylle will make his debut in his hometown, will have friends and family in the stands. Hope he plays well and becomes a regular in the lineup. He has 13 goals in 39 games, with 5 in his lats 8. Also third on Hartford in points.
It looks like based off of what I read in the Post this morning that Kravstov is going to get scratched tonight after playing in 17 consecutive games. With Gallant admitting he's not a 4th line player and serves better in the top 9, but right now there is no room to put him.
that said, Laf keeps getting rolled out there and has not done much.

Kravstov needs to get stronger, no doubt. He does get pushed around too easily, doesn't go into too many corners or board battles.
the top 6 crunch doesn't get easier next year and Chtil, Lafreniere, and Kravtsov are al RFA's as is Miller and role players like Gauthier and no backup goalie. and probably have $8 - $10M in room (without any trades of say someone like Goodrow to make room))
I guess maybe the Rangers could trade Lafreniere, but I think one of those two (more likely Kravtsov IMO) gets moved in a deal for a top 4 D or top 6 F at the deadline.

could be. the crunch you mention makes it all the more puzzling that they add Trochek with a long term/no move/big $$ deal to an already top heavy strcuture.
I guess it takes time. I mean it is Trocheck's first year here after all.

Needed a C. They lack centers even in the prospect pool.
Othmann and Cuylle are LW's too making it even more crowded.

Yeah, I mention that yesterday. And Sykora!

Trocheck is best as a 3C IMO, and a specials player.
Maybe his contract is too big for that, but it's what the Rangers needed and he's playing 2C. I would take Trocheck over Strome.
Ideally Chytil leapfrogs Trocheck at some point.
Strength up the middle is crucial in the NHL and I still say the face off is the most underrated moment in the game.
So much good or bad can be traced to a won or lost face off.
Trocheck on the dots: 56.6% Strome on the dots: 42.7% - that is massive IMO.

I'm interested to see how Laf plays tonight. He's coming off his best game of the year, IMO. He had a significant jump to his skating last game. Add in a greasy goal and an assist, I'm really looking forward to seeing if he can string back to back good games.

but he seems weak on the puck when challenged. THat's what is holding him back.

Let's hope!

When it comes to Trochek it's faceoffs !!
Blah.
Blah.
I'm fine with it. Not a fourth liner.

I really liked the Kreider-Trocheck-Vesey line. They were good for 2 or 3 weeks, then GG split them up.
As for Kravy, I just don’t have an argument for keeping him in the lineup. Even though the numbers aren’t particularly different, he doesn’t resemble the player we saw for a spell a few years ago. That guy played downhill and aggressive.
Best of luck to Cullye.
They need to keep that line together. They are so much better together.
That's what I was thinking. Maybe it was just luck. But on replay it looked like he did it on purpose.
The second goal he one-timed it like Ovechkin.
That second goal by Chytil was a thing of beauty. Two great passes and then a one timer

Just scored right off the puck drop a la Mario Lemieux! 1-1

He absolutely shot it on purpose. Hell of a play.

Agreed, but who would be RW for Mika? I don't want to break up the kid line again.
Kravvy is not there yet.
TNT made sure to point out his multiple fuckups.

by Kreider in the 3rd period making sure Toronto got it to overtime. Fuck

yeah like putting in the goalie's back from the crease. That was the game. Looks like he's in one of his disappearing periods that he has occasionally.
I like him. He's steady. And tough.
