Have a young relative taking up golf (11yoa). Any recommendations re: training tools, equipment? Thanks in advance.

A good coach/teacher will handle the rest.

Played since I was 9. Quit for about 10 years between college and my 20s and picked it back up 3 years ago.

Besides practice and getting lessons, following social media accounts is an amazing way to learn the mechanics of the golf swing, drills, stay in the know with what's going on with the PGA, watch highlights, etc.

I can say, without a doubt, this is the reason I re-learned the game so quickly. I could only wish I had this free tool when I was young.

That and he or she should play as much as humanly possible. Practice is great but learning to score is everything. Can not tell you how many times I've lost to players who were absolutely worse than me on all levels (Long game, short game) but knew how to score.
Thanks
