You have to wonder if Jones and Barkley would take a little less to make sure both were back on long tern deals. They seem to respect each other and I can't help but think that a major part of Jones' success is because Barkley needed to be accouted for. especially on the zone reads and boots.
I will be doing an in depth analysis for both teams but suffice it to say that they both have challenges moving forward.
They have extended contracts our 2-3 years, they have minimal CAP space in 2023, 2024, and even 2025. Both teams have key personnel that must get big contracts, they have many significant free agents, they have players who are getting paid based upon past performance, and their teams are aging.
This is the cyclical nature of football in the the NFL.
They have put their chips in the middle and have bet on winning the Superbowl.
The Giants are at the beginning of their cycle and if they play it right they will be ascending at the right time.

should we put him under signed elsewhere or does he not count since PS?
Webb
Washington
Sills
Platzgummer
Burgess
are the other PS yet to sign.
was interested they signed back Butler, i liked him.
also mickens as well, older signing for a returner only player. interesting.
really like the kindley/hamilton/cunningham ones, they got rotation OL potential.
the only players from the Giants FA that are looking at 4+ Million

Yes the Eagles are all in this season, if they don’t win their window may close quickly. There is no 5th year option for Hurts so 2023 is a big year. They are on a similar position the Giants were in this year, they may have to cut $40 mil to be able to operate in 2023. Already have $28 mil in dead cap. Best case scenario for me is they don’t win the Super Bowl and have to cut a lot of good players. We shall see.
are all UFAs you'd want back. I'd much rather keep solid pieces on the defense and draft another running back than sign Barkley and be looking for all those pieces in the draft or bargain bin.
What I mean, the player may want to win but the agent is the one who negotiates the contract. So, if Jones wants to take a little less to allow the Giants to keep Barkley around and sign a few other key players, will the agent prevent this from happening?
I sell real estate and I know the seller will almost always go with the highest offer but other factors matter ( contingencies, type of load, waiving inspections, flexibility on when to take possession ).
The grass isnt always greener and we finally have a good GM and Coach. That has to play a part of the decision for Jones.
There are a number of guys we could re-sign. Jihad Ward was a pretty important role player on this defense for example.
Thanks.
BTW, the few re-signed PS players who signed a $1,080,000 deal actually have a lesser cap hit too.
Hate to lose Leo Williams; pther than that Jones and Saquon
are pillars of the team; if they walk, it's a wrecking ball solution.
If you look at the Eagles have done vs. us, it gives me a headache ....

Yes, I think so.
+1.
The opposite could also be true!

I recall Wink saying in a press conference at the beginning of the year, regard Jihad Ward. "As long as I have a job, he has a job."
