This year was a mess but Reich is not innocent in how they handled the revolving veteran QB situation in Indy. He also advocated and signed off on the Wentz deal and then did nothing throughout the final game as their playoff shot imploded in spectacular fashion last season.
someone who had some success as a NFL HC. They may have a hard time drafting one of the top QB's imv. I can see a few above them in the draft also going QB but we'll see.
Was extremely popular with the players on the current team. Alot of the leaders and more notable players on the Panthers liked playing for Wilks. Reich is not a bad hire. Irsay is a lunatic with a short leash so Reich certainly deserves another chance.
with Anthony Richardson. That would be a very interesting pick with Reich as HC. Richardson has sky high potential. Reich might be the right guy to harness it.
Dude went 6-6 after being thrown into a HC gig. I bet there's gonna be some serious noise about this decision. He won't be unemployed long. Rivera will grab him up before Saturday
Would be curious to know how he answered questions re: handling the revolving veteran QB situation in Indy, and why the Colts really seemed to crash under him. Teams change fast in the NFL, pretty good team the one year with Rivers, and now it's probably a significant project.

Pretty easy answer: my owner was/is insane.
Or put more euphemistically, in order to secure the job, my owner made key personnel decisions outside my delegations of authority... ;)

Steve Wilks' attorney 'shocked and disturbed' over Panthers' HC decision
The Carolina Panthers and the NFL may be hearing from an attorney.
Shortly after the team announced they’d hired Frank Reich as their new head coach, Wigdor Law—the legal representation for Steve Wilks—made an announcement of their own. The firm was none too pleased with the decision from the franchise and owner David Tepper, especially given what their client had done this past season.

McAdoo stunk as OC. They have good talent there on offense. Rhule fucked Baker though.
I will say Reich is easily the best coach in that division right now. Nail the QB, it could be Carr or could be someone like Levis or Richardson.
Mara forcing that dunce into TC was cemented the Giants spiral to the bottom
What?? Eli had 18 TDs and a league leading 27 interceptions the year before McAdoo took over. Eli had the 3rd most TD passes (trailing only Brady & Rodgers) in the 2 years McAdoo was the OC. That’s how he got the Giants head coaching job.
Not sure how Baker got fucked. He was the worst of their three starting QBs this season.

Has a point. Maybe if he had been buddies with Tepper the way Jeff Saturday is with Irsay he would have had a chance.

Seems Team Wilks doesn't understand what the word "interim" means. As far as I'm concerned, Wilks wasn't just trying to prove to Tepper he should be the permanent hire, but also the other teams looking for a new HC.
But Wilks should have been the hire. The team came back from the dead after trading McCaffrey. I don’t know the day to day stuff but he earned the job imo.

It’s not like Reich is a HOF coach.
Maybe they prefer an offensive HC? That’s the way the league is trending in a big way. Be careful of making rash decisions based on small sample sizes. It’s not unusual for there to be a temporary uptick in performance when the voice changes on a struggling team. The decision is much deeper than that. What was Wilks’ long term plan moving forward? What assistants did he plan to bring in? What offensive system? Etc, etc.
He did a nice job getting the team to play down the stretch. That doesn’t make him the best person for the job long term

This points to drafting a QB imo
He had them playing as well as could be expected. I'd hope he gets a shot somewhere
The offense was actually halfway decent after trading CMac and dumping Baker Mayfield. I’d expect him to get another chance as an OC.

Was that what happened? I don't remember the circumstances surrounding his hiring. I remember he came out of left field.

Well, he did recommend trading for Wentz because he thought he could fix him.
I see what you did there. But this comment might be German.

They still be able to top "Headless body in topless bar."
