I think because so many fans wanted him to return to the field, and because his snaps came late in the season, the perception is he played more than he really did.
But I find this somewhat fascinating.
Collins played in six regular-season games with one start. The first two of those games came as PS call ups in Week 7 and 8 (before the bye).
He didn't see the field again until December when he was signed to the 53-man roster. Most of his playing time came in the last four games of the regular season, playing in 43, 46, 55, and 52 percent of defensive snaps.
However, he hardly played in the playoffs. 19 percent of defensive snaps against the Vikings and 0 percent of defensive snaps against the Eagles.
It appears Jarrad Davis stole his playing time (McFadden was also made inactive for the two playoff games despite playing in all 17 regular-season games and having his best performance in the regular-season finale against the Eagles).
I put this out there because it suggests to me they may be moving on from Landon.
I'm fine moving on from Collins or bringing him back on a vet minimum type deal with a few incentives. He made a few plays for us down the stretch, especially is pick six against the Colts.

That is correct about the Vikings.
Thank you for spelling this out.
I can't tell you how happy my heart was when he picked 6 the Colts and ran it into the endzone with the team trailing after him hugging him and the crowd giving him a standing ovation.
I hope you are wrong and they bring him back next season as a hybrid/Wink Monster. He still looks strong, mobile and fast (for a LB, not a S). Someone like Wink can use those tools on an as needed basis IMHO.

We're seeing the top running teams like the Eagles and 49ers using complex rushing attack schemes that confuse defenses. That's not the strength of Jaylon Smith and Jarrad Davis. As Sy'56 has pointed out, both of these guys are big, strong, and fast, but they don't diagnose very well and have suspect lateral agility (I suspect the latter is related to their inability to diagnose complex offenses).
Long story short, the Giants need to get smarter at inside linebacker too.
His ankle in Minny playoff game?
...Queue the Eagles rushing for 140 yards in the 1st half, lol.
And they almost won that game…. Dun dun DOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNAAAA
It’s funny how we’ve always commented that LC has limitations primarily in coverage and that we can do better. Yet we still haven’t seen what better looks like. And I can’t say that his replacements were better at what he does well. LC at least makes plays especially in the box.
Just didn't add up to me.

Landon out there in the playoffs and now I know why.

What constitutes smartness at linebacker? To give an example, read and react was supposed to be a strength for McFadden when reading scouting reports on him/watching clips and he was supposed to be good at zone coverage, but it didn't show up much during the season.
He did more then most midseason signings ever do. He wasnt even on a PS I belive.
