From what I understand, RJ's contract "poison pill" makes him very difficult to deal now.

The big upgrade I want to see is at center. I have no idea how to do that.

OG would bump us up a notch - from low 40s to high 40s in terms of win total (maybe too late for this season but in general).

Brunson/OG/Randle/Grimes/IQ/Mitch is a nice supporting cast for a future star, should we ever get our hands on one. There were rumors during the endless Mitchell trade talks that the Knicks wanted to add OG as a follow-up move.

RJ is going to the 2 and Grimes goes to the bench.
RJ contract is set up to be hard to move for another 2 years.

RJ is a big time liability defensively - doesn’t have the quicks to cover two’s. I love the kid but he’s at his best playing bully ball as a three. He’s a grinder so I think he keeps getting better, but don’t see him elevating to all star level play. If they get OG might mean RJ needs to be moved, somehow, some way.

for OG and sort out the positions / playing time later.

Grimes would be a nice 6th man, as he can play the 2 or the 3. But Quickley is a better 6th man playing either guard spot.

I love Grimes's game but he will need to score more for the Knicks to take a step forward, and he's still 4th option behind Randle, Brunson and Barrett.

Grimes could score plenty more, he just doesn’t get the shots. He’s the 4th option on the floor. He’s got the highest effective shooting percentage on the team except for Sims and Mitch who don’t shoot outside 5 feet.

I am not on a crusade. I watch every single game. Randle is the problem. Watch the game tonight. Tell me how many picks he sets and cuts off the ball. Tell me how many times he is near the basket. Tell me how many times he does not play ISO ball. he sits at the 3 point line exclusively. Watch the rest of the team when he has it in his hands.

You absolutely do not watch the games if this is your takeaway from Randle this season. He’s been fantastic. Not perfect, but nobody gives a crap that Knicks fans always expect perfection out of players, otherwise they are the problem. The list of problems on the Knicks is extensive before it gets to Randle this season.

Stop watching old Knicks Rewinds from last season. You’re missing Randle having a great season with Brunson running the point.

Exactly. I wanted Randle gone too but no way in hell I can complain about how he’s playing this season. Knicks fans always want the perfect player. No matter who the player is there will be a segment of fans that can’t stand him.
