Cowboys' DC Dan Quinn will be staying in Dallas

Anakim : 1/26/2023 4:54 pm
FUCK!

Tom Pelissero
@TomPelissero

#Cowboys DC Dan Quinn informed interested teams that he is staying in Dallas, per sources.

Quinn was a top candidate for the #Cardinals’ head coaching job and also interviewed with the #Colts and #Broncos. But his heart is in Dallas and he wants to win a Super Bowl there.

Demeco Ryans is the next coach of the Broncos
Wow

Jerry Jones must have given him a significant raise.
He wants to take over…

when McCarthy coaches himself out of the league next year.
this

sucks.

I half expected him to be named the new Dallas HC. I wonder if that's still his play.

Chris just beat me to the punch.
Well that sucks

I was hoping Dallas would have a crappy D next year.

I'm surprised Quinn trusts Jerry like that. I mean Jerry can go back on his word easily.

Or all those franchises are a dumpster fire. Didn't even mention the Jets.

Sure but he’s probably making more than most HCs right now in tax free Texas and doesn’t have near the responsibilities of a HC. He’s already been fired from one HC job so who can blame him for passing on jobs he may not feel are the right opportunity
Doesn’t Matter

Who takes over with Dak at quarterback. I was on the McCarthy hater wagon until this postseason. I saw a team that is legitimately only missing the QB.
Giants have a lot of catching-up to do
Arkbach : 1/26/2023 5:09 pm : link
Watching last weekends games the Giants need to find a lot of players who can match the speed and size of the dallas and philly defenses. With Quinn returning expect even more from the dallas D next year. I keep reminding myself his Falcons defense blew a 25 point lead.
Jerruh thinks he's the coach.
Optimus-NY : 1/26/2023 5:12 pm : link
Quinn should bolt when he gets a decent shot. Until then, he'll at least get paid bucko bucks and coordinate a defense with Parsons.

If Sean Payton shows even the slightest bit of interest in Dallas, Jerruh will toss Quinn to the side.

This. Is Payton trying to save face ...

MarkMaske
@MarkMaske
The Panthers are no longer an option for Sean Payton. And there was an issue with Payton's interview with the Broncos. Payton likes the idea of coaching Russell Wilson and having that defense but fears a potential power struggle with a member of the ownership group, source says.

Plus ...

It's described as "an issue" in Payton's interview with the Broncos. The former Saints head coach has lost some helium towards finding a job in recent days with the Broncos reportedly going towards DeMeco Ryans as their lead candidate and the Panthers hiring Frank Reich. It's looking more likely than ever that Payton will remain on FOX -- something he at one point before the end of the season described as a "70% chance."

That can't be true. Bbi kept telling me why we don't have an elite QB like Dak.
Surprised Quinn is staying
fanatic II : 1/26/2023 5:44 pm : link
Just yesterday there was a report that a couple of his coaches got let go and Quinn knew nothing about it. He was on his interview and when he returned he got the news. He wasn't in the loop.

When I read this report I thought for sure Quinn was moving on and the team was just clearing the deck for the next DC.

Especially Moore. Kafka gets multiple interviews and he doesn't. I like Kafka don't get me wrong but Moore has been doing it for years.

SFGFNCGiantsFan : 1/26/2023 6:21 pm : link
Kafka getting a HC job before Moore would be a joke. And our luck.

Their defense may suck next year, you never know what is going to happen year to year! Just look at the Rams, SB champion to hot garbage!

Quinn is being selective, he knows this will most likely be his last shot. Same story last year.

His backwards baseball cap annoys the hell out of me.
bceagle05 : 1/26/2023 7:23 pm : link
Probably just because he’s a Cowboy.
He's probably the best DC candidate for a HC
upnyg : 1/26/2023 9:17 pm : link
job. He can be selective as long as Dallas plays good D. He's got the talent over there to be good for awhile.
Well maybe he learned his lesson when he forced Marinelli
LauderdaleMatty : 1/27/2023 7:11 am : link
Out. Coaching matters. Talent is always important but Quinn is more important than McCarthy. Reminds me of the McAdoo Spags year. Quinn and the D are why they are very close. Offense is going to be the issue. Aging OL, Zeke and Adam and they stupid contract make their window time sensitive
I think this thread nails pretty much every point
Jim in Forest Hills : 1/27/2023 8:58 am : link
on Quinn. He's in a great spot already with tons of talent. His defense wont suddenly turn bad. If Mccarthy doesn't win it next year he'd be the frontrunner since Payton will cost a ton to get.
I was hoping he was getting a job
Rudy5757 : 1/27/2023 9:57 am : link
He’s a good coach.

Dallas is on a tough cap situation though so they are definitely going to lose some talent. We shall see but it’s going to be interesting to see how they handle the off-season.
Are we sure McCarthy is such a bad coach?
Metnut : 1/27/2023 10:41 am : link
Back to back 12-5 seasons, and Prescott missed a lot of time this year. It's not easy to win 12 games in consecutive years in the NFL. Does anyone really think he's underachieving in Dallas?

When Prescott was injured, McCarthy proved himself to the league but most importantly to Jerry and Stephen Jones. It seems the fans didn't catch on.. He's a good coach.

Unfortunately, I think what is happening is people look at McCarthy and judge him based on the fact he looks like a blowfish. He's a good coach.

Yep. People have been blaming the HC in Dallas for 28 years for them not winning a SB. Coach after coach after coach. It’s always the coach
McCarthy is a good coach

Some of the shine wore off with Rodgers' parting comments in GB, and the leaks he had grown lazy and spent time delegating to assistants while spending the time in massage parlors.

Dak's a good QB, but he remains a work in progress as a passing QB. He's still mistake-prone and that tends to show up in the biggest games against the better teams. Cowboys have historically played an undisciplined game, going way back. I think it's part cultural to the organization too, always missing ingredients. Let it ride, Jerrah.
