I haven’t heard anything other Kafka getting a 2nd interview with Houston which I didn’t think much of at the time but since reading now that Ryans is the favorite in Denver maybe means Houston is more of a possibility? Have heard nothing as far as the Indy opening as well.
Wink and Kafka should steer clear of the Colts, who are proving to be dysfunctional, and Irsay prefers to have Jeff Saturday continue that clown show
Panthers - Passed for Frank Reich
Colts - 1st round interview. Seems like he's out as the rumor is the Colts want to schedule/have scheduled 2nd round interviews with Dan Quinn, Jeff Saturday, and Ejero Evero. Now, maybe Quinn's decision to stay with Dallas changes that
Texans - Kafka had a 2nd interview which is obviously a sign he's a leading candidate. But reportedly the Texans are interested in the Eagles' coordinators, but are waiting for the Eagles playoff run to progress. Definitely a shot to lose him here.

Colts - Seems like he's behind a few other guys for the job
Houston might be least dysfunctional job. They just sucked for so long.
1) Low expectations
2) 5 picks in the first 73 picks including 2 in the top 12
3) 5th in cap space (before cuts, restructures, etc) with no major contracts except Cooks (tradeable asset)
On the other hand, they have poor ownership, an untalented roster, and have fired two coaches in a row after only a year

4 head coaches in four seasons. Super unattractive for a seasoned coach. And also for rookie coach. Those picks are attractive but the negatives shout reputation destroyer. I’d take a flyer for five year guaranteed millions though.
Kafka - I think he could be a head coach one day, but it is just too soon.

How do you know that Wink is not a CEO??? He has stated repeatedly that his goal is to be a head coach.

Wink - the guy simply is just an excellent coordinator. He is not a CEO type which is more of what you want for a head coach. I have to think he took the interview because it is always good to interview... but with no evidence, I would guess he also does not want to be a head coach.

Yea, kind of shake my head at some of the observations we make from afar

Isn't that what this entire website is based upon? Any comment we make about the team, players... all of it is from "afar".
Wink has been in this league for how long? Plus, even if someone is given a shot at being a head coach, it does not mean they are cut out for the job. All you have to do is look at the three head coaches we had before Daboll.
Kafka's just green, he'd have to really nail the interview way above everyone else. Could I trust my job to him?
