A battle of two opposite forces. Giants immovable D vs Buffalos unsstoppable offense. Belicheck made is reputation on this game. The Giants ran the ball down their through, holding a 40-20 TOP advantage, amazingly Buffalo still scored about 1 pt per minute.
with class. I think he made the kick to send them to the SB the following year. Check out Scott Norwood a Kicker Life below (only 6 ish mins) Link - ( New Window )
Norwood was unjustly maligned. he never made a kick like that on grass
Levy and Kelly lost that game. When the Giants came out in that 2-5 alignment their game plan should have changed to Thurman Thomas left, right and up the middle until the Giants were forced to go back to their base 3-4.

Like Belichick said, he believed strongly that the Bills just didn't really want to run the ball, even if the defense was basically conceding it. It was a gamble based on a hunch, but it was dead accurate.

it was the greatest game i have every been to. Desert Storm was going on and a ton of security. Could not have a radio so when he missed we were going crazy hugging everyone around you until i looked up and saw them lining up again. Penalty? No just running the clock out. Great trip
I love seeing these anniversaries and I say "that can't be right" because the conference championship games haven't even been played yet this year.
I actually kind of like it better the football season ends in mid-February now. There's absolutely nothing important going on in the sports world until the NFL draft and the NHL playoffs. March is one of the biggest black holes of time on the sports calender.
Things I remember from that game without even thinking...
1) Ingram on 3rd & 13. As the game highlights said...'In a game full of superlatives, Mark Ingram's effort on 3rd and long can best be described as...inspiring. The drive was kept alive. And the clock kept ticking.'
2) How did Hoss not fumble on that Bruce Smith sack in the end zone? UFB.
3) Controlling the ball for 40 minutes. Just wild
4) Thurman Thomas was a fucking beast in this game. Man, Buffalo not running more...as mentioned above, idiotic. BB told the defense pregame to let Thurman to have a big game & I remember seeing on TV or an ESPN doc that Banks & the defense were incensed, but BB was proven right.
5) Ottis' Ali like punch on a big 3rd down conversion.
6) The huge Hoss to Baker TD before the half to cut the deficit to 12-10.
7) The opening drive of the 3rd quarter.
8) Buffalo tackling Ottis for a loss on our last drive. We get a TD there & it's a wrap.
9) Parcells being carried off the field.
Man...best Giants win of my lifetime prior to 2/3/08.

Just imagine what those asshole Eagles would do under similar circumstances.

yes it was!
Our O Line and coaching staff were unreal.
Ingram's 2nd effort on 3rd and long was the most critical play.
Hoss staying in the game after an obvious concussion was huge.
