It’s on Daboll to have a pipeline in place to replace the coordinators. Philly may lose both candidates and they are always losing front office people.
Wink deserves it. He’s been overlooked for years. Selfishly I hope he stays, but he has made it known he wants to be a HC some day. Mara should have hired him over Judge in 2020.
I bet he'll take it. He's not gonna wait for the right one, he's waited long enough and with age and side of the ball working against him he will jump.
Coaches are on two year contracts. Not sure on how that works but I believe the Giants could promote Wilkins if Wink left. Wanting to is BD’s decision and I imagine both would want that situation and part of the discussion and decision.
Another team wanting Wilkins if Wink stays is a different scenario and Wilkins would have to want that job if presented.
As good a job as Wink did, gun to my head I do prefer a more bend but don't break Fangio Cover 6 over Winks attacking D style. Hell Fangio is sitting around on his couch eating Doritos right now I believe.
I mean I understand why they are interested in Wink, but it just frustrates the hell outta me that he's on equal billing as DeMeco Ryans....I mean, really?
Can ya just leave the Giants alone please.....aaahhhhhh JFC!
Saturday will be retained as Irsay loves the guy, but it’s still something to keep an eye on.
I don’t know man. Apparently Colts fans have started a petition to voice their displeasure with hiring Saturday. Between that and supposedly members of the front office have been trying to talk Irsay out of it, I think he will ultimately give in and hire someone else.
Ahem! Where did Daboll and Schoen come from? Were they fresh-sprung from the earth, or did we 'poach' them from some other team? (Not to mention Hodgins 🙄).
RE: RE: Why is it that when the Giants are good for one year

His point is that it happens when the Giants have ONE semi decent season. Guys like Daboll and Schoen were with an organization that had sustained success.
Would hurt the giants on multiple levels not only would we lose wink but he will most certainly take a bunch of assistant coaches with him. Then add the longer it takes the more coaching options to replace wink dry up with Zimmer going to colorado it's already and others securing there next job.
who knows what goes through his mind. He names Saturday a coach to begin with--who in their right mind would do that. Anyone who says they know what goes into his thinking is lying. This is a total we will see what happens, but there is no reason to think Wink could not get the job.
They poach Martindale, I hope Drew Wilkins is looked at to take over as coordinator.
He got a lot of praise from Wink prior to being hired.
Absolutely take a shot with Wilkins. Probably keep a similiar defense too plus add a few wrinkles
I don’t know much about him but it would be helpful not to start from scratch
Love having WINK but we need players , that’s what I am focused on.
Same with Kafka, daboll imprint all over the offense
There are so many good coordinators out there. Key is getting right one
But who are all these coaches that we lose? Spags got a HC job. I know years ago we lost Lombardi, Landry, Bekichick, and Fox. But I feel like we make too much about losing coaches. It has been a long time.
The Indianapolis Colts are bringing in New York Giants defensive coordinator Wink Martindale for a second head coach interview.
Following the news that Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn pulled his name from the candidacy, the Colts quickly found a replacement from their initial list of coaches.
Martindale already interviewed once virtually so he’s among the finalists for the head coach vacancy. An exact date for the interview hasn’t been set, but Martindale is expected to do so this weekend.
Entering Friday, the Colts have held second interviews with interim head coach Jeff Saturday and Denver Broncos defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero. They are scheduled to interview Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris on Friday.
...
A number of candidates that have already been interviewed are coaching in the conference championship round of the playoffs, including Shane Steichen, Eric Bieniemy and Brian Callahan.
All three of those candidates can be interviewed a second time after the conference championship games conclude, regardless of the outcome.
The Colts had plans to interview San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans, but he canceled last weekend to focus on their divisional-round playoff game against the Cowboys.
However, because the Colts didn’t interview Ryans before the divisional round, they cannot interview him until after the Super Bowl is concluded, per NFL rules. Colts coaching interviews - ( New Window )

This is a terrible list. Wink might get it.
I agree, hopefully cokehead is dumb enough to hire Saturday.
The only thing I can think of is when you do it in New York, there is more of a spotlight.

That job will go to Saturday or to a young'un who is desperate for their shot in my opinion.
He got a lot of praise from Wink prior to being hired.

If Wink were to go to Indy, I think he'd bring OLB coach Drew Wilkins with him to be his DC.
Wilkins had a big impact with Giants' young talent this year.
I think they'll both be back with NYG, but Daboll has to prepare with options just in case. Same with Mike Kafka.
Another team wanting Wilkins if Wink stays is a different scenario and Wilkins would have to want that job if presented.
Though I would not be surprised to see this crew look outside the org for a new DC.

Hire Ryans, not Wink ya dopes!

A big part of Wink's exit from Baltimore was the Ravens not agreeing to the lucrative extension he was asking for.

I cannot ascribe rational thought to Irsay, so I say its an open possibility.

Which means Wink is gone.
