Says the vehicle tipped going around a turn, and wasn’t from him being reckless on it. he The ATV story starts at the 16:15 mark, but the entire interview is a good listen. Link - ( New Window )
is based on what they can do physically. I’m not saying they should live the majority of their young lives in bubble wrap, but save the ATV rides, pickup basketball games, etc. for retirement. It’s not like they are retiring at 65, you can do a lot of fun stuff in your early-mid thirties with millions in the bank.

It doesn’t even need to be retirement, but definitely save it for the offseason. If McKinney is in Cabo this week riding ATVs after the season and hurts his hand there is a much different reaction compared with during the bye week which is obviously in season. I’m a huge McKinney fan but the ATV thing was really stupid of him. The team and fans had every right to be pissed and had we missed the playoffs by a game or half game, that would have been the first thing we all pointed to and rightly so. Thankfully he’s ok and everyone can move on from it at this point now.
as a kid we built a coaster go cart. It had a canopy made of plywood.
We were bombing down the hill and it tipped over. I put my hand out onto the street to brace as we were going over. The plywood canopy hit my hand as it was laying on the street.
Broke a finger.
What he described was the same thing. He tipped, braced for the fall, and the roll bar crushed his hand.
I spent most of my career working with the trauma team at the Albany Medical Center. ATV, snow mobiles and motor- cycles are to be avoided. People say they are good drivers or careful drivers but ice, pot- holes, other drivers, animals, boulders etc.ruin lives in an instant. Stay away from these vehicles.
is wreckless. Driving a motorized vehicle in a way you lose control of it is the definition of being wreckless.
And I’m not with the “we all did dumb stuff” excuse either. I didn’t have the opportunity to earn $100,000,000+ in my 20’s. It’s ok to call out dumb behavior. These young men are given the opportunity to change not only their lives but their families lives for GENERATIONS. It’s wild to excuse jeopardizing that for “fun”, like the only other option to not endangering your physical well being is staying in bed.
If not endangering yourself isn’t important enough to you and or family do it for your teammates.
Trikes were bad. ATVs, a gazillion people use these everyday for hunting, shuttling crap back and forth, getting to the beach etc.
The ATV is not the problem and doesn't need to be mentioned in some contract rider. It's the idiotic gonzo driving. Quads do not tip over unless you are making stupid decisions
Another interesting comment he makes in the interview

Exactly, if it tips taking a turn you were being wreckless.
And the contract he signed doesn’t say he’s allowed to ride them as long as he’s very careful, it says he’s not allowed to ride them.
At least he grew up enough to not just repeat “sight seeing tour” at the interviewer though.
I have more of an issue with him going to Cabo during bye week
is that he felt the team lacked energy during the Eagles game. Said it wasn’t nearly at the level it was for the Wild Card game.
I was struck by the quotes about the coaching staff. They listen to players. We talked about manage things/lead people. It's not lost on me that Xavier said about Daboll,"lead us" multiple times.
I had two trikes in addition to the motocross bikes. I have been told by people who were riding behind me while I was on my trike that I almost NEVER had three wheels on the ground.

Madison Bumgarner is another example.
Cost himself at least 100 million because he injured his shoulder riding an ATV

Agree with point #1
Completely disagree with point #2
You can tip over the vehicle that he was driving easily at 2 mph. The issue that I am willing to bet anything on here is that he simply has no fucking idea what he was doing. An uneven surface at the wrong angle or turning into it the wrong way will send that thing over. They are less stable than a golf cart. If you do not understand the physics of it, you can easily turn it over.
This makes him inexperienced and not reckless as it relates to HOW he was driving the vehicle.
You can argue that the DECISION TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE was reckless considering that he knows that he has no idea WTF he is doing.
He also said in the interview that they wanted to take a helicopter tour... not a smart decision even though he was not going to be flying the machine.

A lot of people think otherwise if this is a standard excluded activity on contracts.

Save the Mexico resort trip for the offseason, not during the season. Especially coming off a shit loss and facing the hardest part of the schedule.
