Per popular demand, NYG Depth Chart without free agents

Eric from BBI : Admin : 1/29/2023 9:46 am

Also, important note, there are four exclusive rights free agents who do not appear on this depth chart and who are likely to be tendered.

WR Isaiah Hodgins
TE Lawrence Cager
OG Jack Anderson
OG Wyatt Davis
New York Giants Depth Chart - ( New Window )
Cornerback is the deepest part of the team.

Thanks for the depressing reality check. I guess we can figure out

What will happen to that cap space.
I read dre.

Miller is back at WR?

of bodies, the Giants are actually in decent shape on the OL except for center, but I Lemieux and Ezeudu also could project to center. NT is not in bad shape.

Safety is not in bad shape even if they lose Love.

Situation at ILB and WR obviously need addressing.

QB and RB depend on the two big guys.

Actually better than I expected

Obviously QB and RB needs to be sorted out - but there are players to build with and some depth.

That was based on the Giants PR department listing him as a WR when he was re-signed. They have made mistakes in the past with stuff like this. Need to be confirmed in the spring.
Getting a good DT behind Williams might be something to look at;
Angel Eyes : 1/29/2023 10:02 am : link
Anderson has trouble holding up inside. Either he bulks up or takes snaps at DE because he gets washed out quite a few times.

I'd rather have Gates at C.

DL needs to be addressed. As others have said, I wouldn't be shocked if we're talking a high pick.

And Ellis was straight up embarrassing in the playoff game. I know people keep saying we need to get more stout on the edge. However, this was a different D than Graham's defenses. Graham's defenses got destroyed on the edges. Imo, this year wasn't like that. I'm not saying we never got burned on the edges. I'm saying this team was hurt more up the gut. Dex and Williams can only be in so many places. The middle of our D got their asses handed to them.

I'd rather have Gates at C.

Lemieux basically laughed at himself in an interview when they asked him how he did at Center after an offseason pracitce.

And Ezeudu played every position on the OL except Center at UNC.

The future for the NYG at Center isn't on this roster yet.

Hopefully.
Of all the positions on the IOL center is the biggest need imv
Rick in Dallas : 1/29/2023 10:13 am : link
We can do a lot better than we currently have on the roster.
I would prefer to draft a center on day 2 of the draft.
A lot of the needs do not need a top draft pick
gersh : 1/29/2023 10:19 am : link
Or particularly expensive FA to fix (improve)

IOL
NT
ILB

WR, CB….DE is a good use of a premium pick
I really hope that the Giants keep Gates
Jay on the Island : 1/29/2023 10:47 am : link
and move him back to center. Draft and develop another center while allowing Bredeson to serve as the primary backup center.

I think the Giants need to get stouter up-front and quicker-thinking behind them (the linebackers), maybe due to only having two defensive linemen on the field most of the time. Meanwhile the linebackers bite on all kinds of trick plays and are slow-footed in coverage.
Thanks Eric!

Look at WR lol

Sweet Lord.
Giants need to add another edge rusher
nyjuggernaut2 : 1/29/2023 11:06 am : link
Ojulari can't be depended on to be a full-time starter because of his constant injury issues.
Lack
Eric from BBI : Admin : 1/29/2023 12:03 pm : link
of depth at skill positions is obvious. Right now, we'd have Tyrod Taylor handing off to Gary Brightwell and throwing to David Sills and Collin Johnson.

Agreed
At WR we can have the guys we ended the season with
gersh : 1/29/2023 12:50 pm : link
I’d like to bring back Hodgins and Riche James, preferably as depth.
the offensive side of the ball

looks BLEAK. They need so much talent on that side of the ball that I seems impossible to not bring back both DJ and Barks

That screams 2023 Super Bowl favorites to me!

Gettleman shopped hungry.
interior of that OL
bc4life : 1/29/2023 2:00 pm : link
and the ILBs - major reasons for concern.

Lemieux has been injured a lot and Ezudu is an unknown.

OLB is lacks depth and Ojulari has been hurt a lot
I think Love
bc4life : 1/29/2023 2:01 pm : link
is expendible.
A little depressing at first glance
Reale01 : 1/29/2023 2:30 pm : link
A couple things that I think will happen here.

Cut Gollowday
Extend Leo - Cap hit under 10.
Sign Jones - Cap number will be apx 20 because of deal.
Sign Barkley - Cap hit will be under 10 because of deal.
Sign Love - Cap hit will be apx 3 because of deal.
Free agent ILB(s)
Free Agent IOL
Draft (WR, OL, CB, as priorities not in order)
Draft BPA opportunities considered at LB, TE, RB

The above plan brings in:
11 draft picks and
3 or 4 starter caliber FAs at "bargain positions" total cap hit 20.
Fill in the rest roster as best we can with vet min type deals:
Gates, Ward, Williams, Moreau, Brieda, Davis come to mind from the Giants. There may be some vets available.

I don't see Love
bc4life : 1/29/2023 2:32 pm : link
as a must sign
Looks depressing
Blueworm : 1/29/2023 2:49 pm : link
