They just had a reboot. The Walton family is now in charge and Elway is now only a peripheral consultant. (Really just a bridge from the Bowlen family tenure.)
This city is crazy for football like we are for Big Blue, and it may take years and lots of $$$ to get out from under Wilson's contract and right the ship. The defense is good...the offense was not. It doesn't seem like they're too far away, but if coaches don't want to come to Denver, something else is the problem.

Agreed. They’ll need to hire a green candidate who’ll jump at the chance to be a head coach.

with the Wilson situation. It tells you a lot of coaches don’t think he can get back to a top QB even short term next couple seasons and it runs a risk of being a 1-2 year job.

I wouldn’t be stunned if they looked at Kafka and saw how he got Jones on lots of bootleg runs and short passing game and see something they like that may help Wilson.

Hackett refused or either couldn’t figure out marrying his concepts with Wilson’s insistence on his plays he preferred in how to adjust his offense to get Wilson out in space.

Payton backed out of the job but also made absurd salary demands. Harbaugh has legit turned down the job twice now for some reason, possibly because of wanting personnel control.

Payton and Harbaugh wanted final say on players. Maybe that's indirectly related to Wilson as the current GM overpaid him greatly, but if you think about it why would they accept anything less?

Both are comfortable where they are now, the money is probably not an issue with the Waltons, so that leaves the power situation.

While true, there are only 32 openings like this in the world & a lot of these dudes have healthy enough egos that they probably think they'd be the one to right the ship.

He’d have to insist on moving whatever marketable players they have for the draft picks to build the O, or, do more magic with the O and revitalize a suddenly inefficient Wilson.

Exactly this. There is a reason why they are having some issues filling that job. Some pieces, but limited draft capital and the whole Russell Wilson mess to figure out.
